Minnesota Rokkr: Where does Saintt Rank Among the Best Coaches in CDL?

Publish Date: May 27, 2020

The Minnesota Rokkr are still enjoying what has been a very successful season. This, despite some recent hiccups. They have seen the emergence of their roster and have shown their dominance. It all started with their impressive showing at Launch Weekend where they notched up two wins. One of those included defeating their arch-rival, the Toronto Ultra.

Since that time, they have found themselves in the Finals twice in tournaments. They also pulled off a couple of big upsets. One in particular against the loaded Atlanta FaZe team in what was a thrilling series. The team’s success is not only a credit to the players, but to their head coach, Brian “Saintt” Baroski as well.

The team has surpassed expectations heading into the inaugural CDL season. They were viewed as a middle of the road type of squad for the most part. But since their journey began, they have remained in the top five in the CDL standings since. And barring a major drop-off in performance, it looks like it will stay that way.

Impressive numbers and resiliency

At the time of this writing, Saintt has his team as one of only five teams in the league with a winning record at 12-10. The others are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Florida. They once had an even better record than that before the sudden drop-off. But that just shows how well he has done considering that the team is still one of the league’s best no matter how rough that couple of home series’ have been.

He has two players who rank in the top 10 in K/D in the league in GodRx and Assault. At one point there were three of them, with Alexx being in there. This alone may make anyone consider Saintt as one of the CDL’s elite coaches. Is he the best? That’s really hard to say.

Is he the best coach?

Certainly, Florida Mutineer head coach Ricky “Atura” Lugo has to be in that conversation. He took a team that was expected to be below average and made them a home series champion (defeating the Rokkr). Even without Prestinni, they still played very well and remain one of the top five teams in the league.

Another coach that needs to be considered is John “Revan” Boble of the New York Subliners. They still are pretty low in the CDL standings. However, most thought they were absolutely dead in the water but they somehow managed to reach the semi-finals in back-to-back home series’.

There are a ton of great coaches in the league top to bottom. This makes it very challenging to decide who is truly the best based on their situation. But Saintt undoubtedly has to be towards the top. Sure, guys like GodRx and Alexx were good, but they cranked it up to 100 once they got to the Rokkr.

If one had to rank the former eUnited coach, it’s fair to say that he just might be in the top three and no worse than top five. If the Rokkr can bounce back from a couple of unforgettable home series’ then expect him to rise up a spot, or possibly two.
