Los Angeles Guerillas Roster: A New Look Heading into CDL Major 4

Publish Date: June 21, 2022

After a poor showing at CDL Major 3, winning only one of the five placement matches and finishing dead last at the event, the Los Angeles Guerrillas had some tough decisions to make. Heading into Major 4, the LA Guerillas have decided to go in a different direction with their team. The decision ended up meaning that they are dropping Peirce “Gunless” Hillman and Obaid “Asim” Asim. In place of them, they signed former NYSL player Travis “Neptune” McCloud and again brought up their substitute Kris “Spart” Cervantez to the main roster. Here is a look at the new Los Angeles Guerillas Roster.

Fighting For Champs

It’s safe to say that the LA Guerillas CDL Major 2 run was a fluke. Before their championship victory, their odds of making Champs were pretty low. But once they claimed the Major 2 trophy, the LA Guerillas catapulted up the standings.

However, with a terrible performance in Major 3, the Los Angeles Guerillas put their position in the standings at risk. Only being able to earn 10 CDL points throughout the major, allowed other teams to catch up. Knowing they were becoming a bottom-tier team, the LA Guerillas decided they needed to change their underperforming roster.

Old Face, New Place

After parting ways with fan-favorite Asim, the LA Guerillas needed to add another SMG to replace him. They did so by picking up former NYSL player Neptune. After being dropped by the NYSL about a month ago, Neptune has been a top player in the Challengers scene. He has been averaging good stats and was a recent champion winning the Toronto Ultra Major 3 challengers open. Although Neptune was involved in some drama at the beginning of the year. He is still a great player with tons of potential and that alone is a reason to take a risk on him.

Putting it All Together

Building around their current starters Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat and Kyler “Huke” Garland was a risky move. Knowing how up and down both those players are is something to be worried about. However, Neptune and Spart have been playing great COD in Challengers and have proven they can win tournaments. It will be interesting to see how this team meshes when the qualifying matches start and during the major. It won’t be easy, but if they can learn from his teammates like SlasheR and his coaches Embry “Bevils” Bevils and Ricky “Ricky” Stacy.
