Is There a Modern Warfare II Release Date?

Within the past month, Activision and Infinity War gave players a teaser promoting their latest Call Of Duty game in the franchise. The logo of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II. Now the two companies have come together once again to release another tease. Although the teaser didn’t showcase any gameplay footage this time, it did include the Modern Warfare II release date.

The Trailer

The trailer for Modern Warfare II showcases different characters from the Call Of Duty franchise. Some of these characters included Captain John Price, John “Soap” MacTavish, Ghost, and other recognizable and fresh new faces. During the newest teaser in the trailer, there was a container with the date “J-8-22”. Gamers are beginning to assume that June 8, 2022, will be the official gameplay reveal date for Modern Warfare 2. While showing off potential maps, a release date was officially dropped for the newest title in the Call Of Duty series. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare II will be coming out on October 28, 2022.

Modern Warfare II

Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Back in April, Activision revealed the title and logo for this new Call of Duty, dubbing it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. This was done in order to separate it from the Call Of Duty title of a very similar name released in 2009. That game was titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

With Modern Warfare II it was stated that the gameplay will be fluid and fast and resemble certain aspects of its 2019 mirrored title. The game modes that will accompany the title are story mode and multiplayer. According to early details, the story mode will be centered around U.S. special forces fighting the Colombian drug cartel. Taking notes from the previous Call Of Duty titles a much similar battle pass progression system will also be included in the title for the multiplayer.

In 2020 Activision along with Raven Software, and  Infinity Ward launched Call Of Duty: Warzone. Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale based on the combative elements of Call Of Duty. With this new Call Of Duty, gamers were promised a new Warzone “built from the ground-up”. It is not confirmed however that Warzone 2 will be making an appearance alongside the Modern Warfare II release date. It’s also safe to assume that Warzone 2 will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC players. However, it is still uncertain if the same can be said for past-generation console users.
