Defining Moments of Championship Sunday for the Huntsmen

This past weekend the Chicago Huntsmen continued their hot streak winning CDL London and jumping out to first place in the standings. Although the Huntsmen did not drop a series last weekend, the road to prosperity was not a cake walk. Championship Sunday was turbulent, but the Huntsmen emerged victorious thanks to a few defining moments.

Arcitys’ Semifinal Resilience

The Huntsmen had yet to drop a hardpoint on LAN heading into the semifinal against the Paris Legion. Unfortunately, Chicago lost the opening hardpoint with Arcitys having an uncharacteristically poor performance going 14-31. Prior to this match, the Legion had only dropped one Search and Destroy map on the weekend. The analysts on the desk said that Paris’s key to victory was stealing one of the respawns which they managed to do on the opening map. Dropping map one created quite the uphill battle for the Huntsmen.

Given the tall task ahead of Chicago it would have been easy for Arcitys to beat himself up; luckily for the Huntsmen he did just the opposite. Arcitys lead the way for the Huntsmen in maps two and three posting 10-3 and 29-19 performances respectively. After the first map, Arcitys continued to have a strong series for Chicago posting an KD of 1.2. Arcitys displayed the composure of a true veteran and simply forgot about the first map to have an incredible remainder of the series.

Scump’s Cave East Rotation

Given the bad blood between the Huntsmen and Empire, neither team wanted to lose to one another, much less in the finals of the first tournament of the season. As expected, both teams came out strong providing no room for error from either team. Neither team was able to gain much of lead throughout the map and as time wound down, map one was headed to the third and final set of rotations.

Typically, the first hardpoint is open in the middle of the map and most teams do not gain much time off of this. However, with such high stakes, both teams flooded to the middle of the map to get as close to 250 points as possible. There was one player who was not playing the objective and that was Scump. With roughly 35 seconds left on the first hardpoint, Seth let muscle memory take over. Scump was already rotating to the second hardpoint to Cave East, where much more time can be accumulated. By rotating this early, Seth was giving his team a high probability of spawning near the second hardpoint giving Chicago the best chance to win the map. Scump’s move paid off as members of the Huntsmen were able to flood into the hardpoint and ultimately win the first map.

Chicago was able to bring home the CDL London title, but this was not without its challenges. The Chicago Huntsmen continue to play fundamentally sound Call of Duty and remain at the top of the standings for yet another week.
