At the conclusion of Division play before CWL Fort Worth, it is time to reflect on a week of upsets and surprises as Division B comes to a close.

Following a very underwhelming Week 1 performance, 100 Thieves showed their skill with a perfect 4-0 to top the Division. The performances of new addition Preston ‘Preistahh’ Greiner didn’t go unnoticed, finishing with a fourth highest Kill/Death ratio in the Division of 1.22 to claim his spot in the SCUF Gaming Team of the Week alongside teammate Austin ‘Slasher’ Liddicoat. The Thieves started off with an impressive 3-1 victory over Team Envyus, before going on to topple previous Division leaders Heretics in an emphatic 3-0 sweep. It seems as though 100 Thieves may finally be gaining some consistency, and it will be interesting to see if they can maintain this momentum going into CWL Fort Worth.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of Week 2 was the collapse of previous front runners Splyce. Starting the week with a perfect 3-0 record, the squad would only pick up one further series win over Excelerate Gaming to round out the Division with a 4-3 record. Disappointing losses to Heretics and Denial dented the team’s confidence going into their final match with eUnited. Ultimately losing the series 3-1, Splyce now find themselves in fourth place. It now looks as if the team must go back to the drawing board and correct their errors swiftly before Fort Worth.

One team who improved on their previous week’s record was Denial Esports. Almost impossible to do any worse, Denial came into the week with an abysmal 0-4 record. The squad managed to finally kick into gear, however, with series wins over Excelerate and Splyce. Going all the way to a game five, the French line-up managed to close out the Search and Destroy to cause one of the biggest upsets of the week. The performances of Lucas ‘rizK’ Derambure earned him a Team of the Week spot, as he managed to drop a positive 1.03 K/D after a much worse Week 1 showing. The squad will look to take inspiration from these wins going into Fort Worth.
Similarly to Evil geniuses, Excelerate quickly became the Division punching bag, only grabbing one series win over Team Envyus in the two weeks. Much controversy surrounding this squad resulted from the decision to drop mainstay player Ethan ‘FA5TBALLA’ Wedgeworth in favor of the inexperienced Robert ‘RobbieB3319’ Brugnoli. This move wouldn’t improve the squads poor performances, going 0-4 in Week 2 to finish at the bottom of the Division. With many Competitive fans turning sour towards the team, Excelerate have many issues to address before CWL Fort Worth in a fortnight’s time.
