Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series Wrap-Up

Publish Date: July 12, 2021

The Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series ended today with OpTic Chicago sweeping the hometown New York Subliners. The first week of Stage Five wraps up with Group A having three teams 2-0 and the other three 0-2. In Group B, the Seattle Surge and Los Angeles Guerrillas came out winless in this series.

New York Subliners Drop First Two Matches in Stage Five

The Call of Duty League New York Subliners Home Series saw the home team lose two matches. This is the first time since Stage One where the Subliners had two losses before the major. After going 4-1 in the past three stages, it’s a surprise the fourth placed team lost two in a row in the first week.

The first match placed the New York Subliners against the Los Angeles Thieves. The Los Angeles Thieves pulled out to an early 2-0 lead after winning Hardpoint and Search and Destroy. However, the New York Subliners won Control on Garrision and squeaked out a win in Hardpoint. Game five came down to the wire as after a back-and-forth Search and Destroy game led to round 11. However, the Los Angeles Thieves barely won as the Subliners tried to defuse the bomb.

The second match was not as close as the first. The New York Subliners fell early in the match against OpTic Chicago and were down 1-0 after Hardpoint. Another round 11 Search and Destroy match for the New York Subliners also went against them as they lost 6-5. OpTic Chicago secured the win, handing the New York Subliners a loss and a sweep after winning control 3-1 and the match 3-0.

Next week will be big for the New York Subliners, as the distance between second, third, and fourth is as tight as it has ever been. With 20 points separating the three teams, the New York Subliners must win their next matches to stay in the race.

The New York Subliners face the London Royal Ravens on July 17 at 3:00PM ET.

Three Teams in Group A Start Off 2-0

The Call of Duty New York Subliners Home Series saw Group A get off to a strong start as three teams went 2-0. Atlanta FaZe, OpTic Chicago, and the Los Angeles Thieves went a combined 6-0 to start off Stage Five.

Atlanta FaZe continued their Call of Duty League dominance as they swept both the London Royal Ravens and the Paris Legion. This is their 12th win in a row and are nearing the 500-point mark in the regular season point totals. The London Royal Ravens put up a good fight, but were unable to stop the force that Atlanta FaZe is. The match against Paris Legion started off with a close 250-204 win in Garrison Hardpoint. However, the Atlanta Faze put on a clinic and closed out the match with a 6-0 Search and Destroy and a 3-0 Control.

OpTic Chicago started their Stage Five strong with sweeps against the Paris Legion and the hometown New York Subliners. Both teams put up a good fight against OpTic, but OpTic closed out two 11 round Search and Destroys and dominated in Control to end up 2-0. The Los Angeles Thieves also are 2-0 after winning against the London Royal ravens and the New York Subliners. The London Royal Ravens tied up the match 1-1 heading into game three. But the Los Angeles Thieves took over on Control and closed out a tight match of Hardpoint to win 3-1. The match against the New York Subliners was another close match, with the Subliners coming back from 0-2 to force a game five. However, the Thieves were able to clutch the 11th round Search and Destroy to win 3-2.

Atlanta FaZe faces the Los Angeles Thieves on July 16 at 4:30 ET while OpTic Chicago battles against Atlanta FaZe on July 18 at 3:00PM ET.

The Los Angeles Guerrillas Continue to Struggle

The Los Angeles Guerrillas failed to win in the New York Subliners Home Series. They have continued to struggle as they went 0-5 in Stage Four and 1-4 in Stage Three. The Los Angeles Guerrillas had a tough match-up this weekend as they played the Dallas Empire and the Minnesota Rokkr. The team is currently in tenth, while the other two teams are in second and sixth.

The Los Angeles Guerrillas faced the Minnesota Rokkr in their first match of Stage Five. The team played well in Hardpoint on Garrison, winning 250-197. However, that was the only lead the Los Angeles Guerrillas would have in this match. The Minnesota Rokkr secured a win in Search and Destroy on Raid and clamped down on the Guerrillas. The Los Angeles Guerrillas fell quickly as they lost 3-0 in Raid Control and lost handily in Checkmate Hardpoint to lose the match 3-1.

The second match went down similarly to the first. The Dallas Empire started with a win on Garrison Hardpoint 250-64. Following that game, the Los Angeles Guerrillas dropped down 0-2 after losing the Search and Destroy on Standoff. After that match, there was no pulling it back and ended up being swept 3-0.

The Los Angeles Guerrillas face the Toronto Ultra on July 15 at 3:00PM ET.
