If you’ve ever walked into the Curiosity Shop in Deadlock with a bag of souls and absolutely no idea what to buy, you’re not alone. The shop is one of the most intimidating parts of the game for new players. There are dozens of items, layered interactions, and constant pressure to make the “right” choice.
To simplify things, here are 10 of the best items for new Deadlock players — plus exactly when you should be buying them.
If you’re playing a spirit-focused hero and already have several Spirit Items, Boundless Spirit is one of the highest-value late-game purchases you can make.
It’s the only way to gain percentage spirit power, which becomes incredibly important once you start hitting diminishing returns from stacking flat spirit. If you’re unsure what to buy next and you’re heavily invested in spirit, this is almost always a strong option.
Early equivalents like Extra Spirit and Improved Spirit are also solid, but Boundless Spirit shines when your build is already developed.
If you’re struggling, low on souls, and the enemy has a hyper carry taking over the game, buy Cursed Relic.
It applies a powerful shutdown effect and can single-handedly flip fights. Yes, it has an 8% damage penalty and it’s an active item, but it’s auto-aim and easy to use. If you’re the lowest soul player and you shut down the highest soul enemy, you’ve just made one of the most valuable plays in the match.
If you’re constantly low health in mid-game fights and using abilities often, Radiant Regeneration is incredible.
It doesn’t offer flashy base stats, but the healing every time you use abilities — plus bonus regen when hitting enemy heroes — adds up fast. It’s especially strong on heroes with low cooldowns who brawl frequently.

If you’re backing to base too often, consider this.
If you’re playing a weapon-based hero and don’t know what to buy early, start here.
Titanic Magazine increases max ammo and keeps you fighting longer without needing to reload constantly. Unlike more conditional weapon items, it gives consistent passive value without requiring mechanics or timing. It’s one of the safest and strongest early buys for new players.
If your hero has a charged ability you want to use often, Recharging Rush is excellent.
It restores ability charges when you deal weapon damage, making it ideal for heroes who mix gunplay and abilities. It’s simple, effective, and one of the better early weapon investments if your kit supports it.
Not sure which big late-game weapon item to buy? Ricochet is one of the most reliable options.
It helps clear waves and jungle faster, spreads bullet effects to grouped enemies, and shines in team fights. If the enemy is pushing your base or grouping heavily, this item provides consistent value.
For newer players, it’s often safer and more universally useful than riskier high-damage options.
If you’re panicking in lane and sitting on 800 souls, buy Extra Regen.
It’s simple but extremely effective for newer players who take too much poke damage. It keeps you in lane longer and gives you breathing room to learn positioning without constantly backing.
If you’re getting stunned, grabbed, slowed, or locked down repeatedly, buy Reactive Barrier.

It grants a scaling barrier when triggered and often saves you in clutch moments. It’s inexpensive and incredibly valuable against teams with strong crowd control.
If you’re already dealing good damage and want to survive longer in fights, lifesteal is a strong mid-game pickup.
Bullet Lifesteal for weapon heroes. Spirit Lifesteal for ability heroes.
These items reward you for doing what you’re already doing — dealing damage — and scale well into stronger late-game upgrades like Leech.
These are some of the most underbought items in the game.
If the enemy team is heavily invested in spirit damage, buy Spirit Resilience. If their carry is weapon-based, buy Bullet Resilience. A flat 30% resistance to a damage type can completely change how fights feel.
This is one of the easiest ways for new players to counter the enemy team without needing advanced mechanics.
If you’re new to Deadlock and feel overwhelmed in the shop, start with these ten items. They provide consistent value, require minimal mechanical execution, and cover common in-game situations:
The goal isn’t to memorize every item interaction. It’s to reduce panic and build confidence. Once you understand when and why these items are strong, the rest of the shop becomes much easier to navigate.
