According to a recent leak, Deadlock has been working on changing in-game Hero portraits for “a while,” and these new dynamic portraits could be coming in the game’s next Major Update. Here’s everything we know about the potential new feature that has been leaked.
According to Deadlock leaker and insider, Minesweeper, we may be seeing some changes to how Deadlock’s Hero portraits appear in-game, based on your current health.
As it stands now, these are static images at the top of the in-game UI that don’t change. But that may not be the case for long, according to Minesweeper.
“The character’s portrait in the top bar changes between (I think) two or three stages based on their health.”
He also went on to add that this has been in the works for “a while” on the game’s test server and believes “it would probably be ready” for the game’s next Major Update.

These changes would add a great deal of potential personality and maybe even lore to the game’s already robust cast of Herores, showing us how each would deal with various levels of pain. Who knows, these may even show Heroes K.O.’d once they have been eliminated in-game.
However, with elements of the next update reportedly in flux, it’s anyone’s guess as to what exactly we get in Deadlock’s January Major Update, and when the update(s) will be released.
