Darrelle Revis retires from the NFL

Darrelle Revis is retiring from football after 11 seasons in the league and seven Pro Bowl appearances.

He released a statement on social media Wednesday to release the news.

Revis spent eight seasons with the Jets, in two different stints, one season in Tampa Bay, one season in New England and five games with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.

In his 11 year career, he has 140 passes defended and 29 interceptions. For a few years, Revis was widely considered the best cornerback in the NFL earning the nickname “Revis Island”.

He did win a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots and is a shoe-in for the Hall of Fame when eligible in five years.
