The player break continues to drone on as there are still two weeks left until the start of ESL Pro League Season 14. In the meantime, welcome back to another edition of the August Weekly CS:GO News Roundup. A slower week than most, here is the recap of all the tidbits floating around the scene.
The German organization of BIG have continued having good results, but nothing that matched their dominance earlier on in 2020. In an attempt to change the environment, Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dortkardes has been placed on the transfer list. Now BIG pivot from a Turkish fifth to a Danish fifth as they bring in Nicklas “gade” Gade.
Formerly playing on North and OpTic, gade has had some experience at the top of Tier 1 albeit with middling results. He was the IGL most recently with the orgless HYENAS alongside veterans of the Danish scene, Philip “aizy” Aistrup and Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye and had lackluster results overall. Another opportunity arises with the Dane to perform at the highest level and will begin his German journey at EPL Season 14.

XANTARES has been benched in order to potentially join a completely Turkish lineup. Headlined by superstars Ozgur “woxic” Eker and Bugra “Calyx” Arkin, the reunion of the Space Soldiers core could be on the cards. No organization has reached a formal announcement of the squad yet, however TGH will continue to monitor the situation.
Nearly 7 months with no organizational backing, the remnants of the MIBR squad decided to brave the frontiers of North American CS through their own hard-earned money. The squad could not win any titles during their time together but managed to put up semi-final finishes across most of their appearances.
RushB Media now reports potential negotiations with the Nordic organization after they put their entire current roster on the transfer list. This could have the roster basing themselves in Europe rather than North America. Following average results in NA, the difficulties of facing the best of the best in Europe shall certainly be a difficult task.
CLG, NRG, and Complexity all housed the outstanding AWP’er Peter “PTR” Gurney. Spending time in various orgless rosters, he continued to wreak havoc in North America under Bad News Bears. The roster qualified for EPL Season 14 and the IEM Cologne Play-Ins but the German event did not provide the best of results.
Before the player break could be finished, PTR decided to hang up the mouse once and for all at the age of 31. The American had broken on to the scene with his raw fragging ability and intelligent gameplay. Now, he bows out of the Counter-Strike scene in order to pursue a career in Poker fulltime.
