PLG have announced a Grand Slam to be played out in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, featuring 16 teams and a prize pool of $100,000.
The PLG Grand Slam will be hosted on the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi from December 12-16, 2018. The event will feature 16 teams. Eight teams will receive Direct Invites to the event.
Qualifiers in the selected regions will decide the remaining eight spots. FACEIT will be conducting the Regional Qualifiers on their platform. The manner of allocation of spots though, shows what Power League Gaming intend to achieve with the Grand Slam.
While there are three Regional Qualifier spots for the Asian region – East Asia, GCC & South Asia and South East Asia & India – PLG has also reserved a separate spot for Levant & Africa, with the focus clearly on giving the up-and-coming regions a push and some exposure within the international scene.
Abdallah ‘t0ks’ Al-Ghafari, a former player for Risky Gaming, and now the Manager of Operations at Power League Gaming, chose to highlight the same.
“The PLG Grand Slam focuses mainly on providing an opportunity for teams that are looking for a breakthrough.
We are not aiming to create a world-class spectacle but rather a high-standard event that will have all necessary elements for a player, team, talent member, and spectators to enjoy being a part of.”
The event, as aforementioned, will take place on Yas Island. But, t0ks also specified the varied number of activities like Yas Waterpark, Ferrari World, Yas Marina F1 Circuit and Yas Beach that the talent and attendees will be privy to at the PLG Grand Slam. Besides the above perks, they will be staying at the Viceroy Yas Hotel, a 5-star establishment.
While these are all cool perks, the focus will be on whether PLG are able to provide state-of-the-art conditions for the players while also making sure the entire event transpires in a smooth fashion.
