The Toronto Raptors decided to stay in-house and hire Nick Nurse, one of their assistants, as the next head coach according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Nurse and the Raptors have not finalized a deal yet but have verbally agreed that he will be the next leader of the Raptors.
He has been an assistant on the Raptors’ staff since 2013 and started two years after Dwane Casey first got the job.
Nurse coached for 12 seasons in Europe and won British Basketball League Coach of the Year in 1999-2000 and 2003-2004. He was a head coach in the D-League for the Energy and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
If the Raptors keep their roster together, Nurse will be expected to win now. If they move some of their key players, Nurse will be overseeing a rebuild.
