NFL Draft Prospects to Watch in the 2016 Military Bowl

Publish Date: December 27, 2016

One of the teams in the Military Bowl, Temple, has produced a lot of NFL talent in recent years, but not too many people know about it. They currently have eight players in the NFL as a result of their good stretch of play lately. Wake Forest only has four players in the pros right now, but could have more soon. Here are the players from this game that will have a shot at the next level:

Temple Owls

Dion Dawkins, OT

Projected Draft Range: first round-third round

The best bet to make an NFL roster at the start of next season for these teams is Dawkins. At six feet five inches tall and 320 pounds he has the necessary size to be a good tackle at the next level. Dawkins is a good run blocker. He hasn’t had too many chances against elite level pass rushers. This game can really help him improve his draft stock, as he will be going up against some good pass rushers on the Wake Forest defense.

Jahad Thomas, RB

Projected Draft Range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent

Thomas is a solid running back, but like many other good running backs in this class, will get buried in the draft. At five feet ten inches tall and 188 pounds, Thomas will likely be a third down back in the NFL. He has good receiving skills for it with about 1,000 career receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. He has good quickness and vision, but will need to find a trait that can separate him from the rest of the good running backs in this class.

Haason Reddick, DE/OLB

Projected Draft Range: fourth round-sixth round

Reddick doesn’t have the size you would normally want in an edge rusher, but he has been productive. At six feet one inch tall, a lot of teams will overlook him. He finished the season with 8.5 sacks, but also had a game with 11 total tackles, showing some pursuit. His versatility to play multiple positions will be appealing to teams, which could be why they draft him.
