Florida International Panthers Prospects

Anthony Johnson, DT/DE

Johnson is a solid defensive lineman for the Panthers. He has recorded 37 total tackles, with four sacks and two passes defended this season. In 2017 he finished with 39 total tackles, with 6.5 sacks and two passes defended.

At 6-foot-3 and 291 pounds, Johnson will fit in best as a defensive tackle in a 4-3 scheme. His pass rush production is rudimentary for a defensive end, but he could be an adequate run-stopper and pass rusher at defensive tackle.

Projected draft range: 7th round-undrafted

Napoleon Maxwell, RB

Maxwell has gotten over 200 carries in the last two seasons for the Panthers. This season he has 670 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry. He did not do a lot as a receiver with seven catches for 28 yards.

He has solid size at 6-feet 215 pounds, but Maxwell has an uphill battle to make an NFL roster because of his amount of production.

Projected draft range: Undrafted free agent

James Morgan, QB

Florida International started James Morgan at quarterback this season, a transfer from Bowling Green. He has 2,727 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions on 65.3% completion. His efficiency is his best attribute.

Morgan is 6-foot-4 and 213 pounds and will likely be invited to camp to try to make a roster.

Projected draft range: Undrafted free agent

Toledo Rockets Prospects

Jon’Vea Johnson, WR

Johnson is part of a trio of good Toledo receivers and likely has the highest draft potential out of the three. He has 611 receiving yards and seven touchdowns this season, which is solid production considering Toledo lost all-time great quarterback Logan Woodside to graduation before the season.

At 6-foot and 188 pounds, Johnson has decent height, but likely needs to add some pounds to his frame to withstand the NFL schedule. With some good numbers at the combine, he should expect to be drafted in the middle rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Projected draft range: Third round-Fifth round

Diontae Johnson, WR

Diotae Johnson is another good receiver for Toledo, who also could hear his name called in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has 43 receptions for 663 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018. He had an even better season in 2017 with 1,278 yards and seven touchdowns.

He has the prototypical size for an NFL wide receiver at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds. He may have to wait, but Johnson should be drafted.

Projected draft range: Fifth round-seventh round

Brock Ruble, OT

Ruble transferred to Toledo from Florida State. He was part of a bad offensive line at Florida State and did not reach his full potential. At Toledo though, he has improved slightly and may warrant being drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.

His size is great for the position at 6-foot-8 and 318 pounds. His lack of great tape at Florida State may hold him back, but teams may think he can progress into a solid player.

Projected draft range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent

Cody Thompson, WR

Thompson has been producing for the Rockets since the 2015 season. The fifth-year senior had 43 receptions for 592 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Over his career, he has 176 receptions for 3,257 yards and 30 touchdowns.

He has good size at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. Thompson also has the added value as a special teams ace, which will help his draft stock. He will either be picked in the last round or two, or be picked up as a free agent.

Projected draft range: Sixth round-undrafted free agent

Richard Olekanma, LB

The Rockets have a linebacker in Olekanma who is all over the field. He has 78 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one interception and a fumble recovery. This is his first major year of production.

Olekanma is 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds, which is good enough for the NFL.

Projected draft range: Undrafted free agent.

Ka’Dar Hollman, CB

Hollman has one interception and 29 total tackles this season. In his career he has just two interceptions, but is a solid corner who could get an NFL tryout.

He stands 6-foot and 190 pounds.

Projected draft range: Undrafted free agent
