3. Washington Redskins
Last Year Record: 9-7
Key Additions: CB Josh Norman
Key Losses: RB Alfred Morris, QB Robert Griffin III
Big Games: Sep. 12 vs. Pittsburgh, Oct. 30 @ Cincinnati, Nov. 13 vs. Minnesota, Nov. 20 vs. Green Bay, Dec. 19 vs. Carolina
The Redskins won the division at 9-7. That won’t be good enough this year. It will require a minimum of 10 wins to win the division and the Redskins have a tough schedule. They have big games against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Green Bay and Carolina, not to mention the Giants and Cowboys twice each. I see a minimum of seven losses, possibly even more with that tough slate.
The addition of Josh Norman is overrated, just like he is. He had one good season on a team that was loaded defensively. He will be exposed this season and the Panthers will not miss him. The loss of Alfred Morris will also hurt this team. Kirk Cousins is not good enough to run an offense without a good running game. Last season they ranked sixth with 131.5 yards rushing per game. That will drop without Alfred Morris and force Cousins to throw more. I see a year with high turnover numbers for Kirk Cousins. They will be a decent team, but they will not win the division.
