NBA free agency roundup: Day 3

Publish Date: July 4, 2018

NBA free agency has already kicked off, even though players can’t officially sign contracts yet. Verbal agreements have been made by some players, while the NBA world is still waiting on some dominoes to fall. Here is a recap of everything we know so far.

Day one recap

Day two recap

Tyreke Evans joins Pacers

Evans had a great bounce-back season for the Memphis Grizzlies this season, which gave himself the chance to be a high priority free agent. With Evans joining Indiana, it makes them a contender in the Eastern Conference if Victor Oladipo and Myles Turner keep progressing.

Denver trades Wilson Chandler to Philly

The Nuggets had to clear up cap space to keep some of their core together and decided that Chandler was the guy to go. Denver gets to keep growing, while Philadelphia gets a good bench player.

Dante Exum and Jazz reach deal

Exum hasn’t necessarily lived up to the hype he received when he entered the league, but has also had to deal with injury. If he can start playing to his potential it gives the Jazz another talented backcourt player to put with Donovan Mitchell.

Dwight Howard to join Wizards

Dwight Howard has finally finalized his buyout with the Brooklyn Nets and will sign with the Wizards. The Wizards traded away Marcin Gortat and were in need of a big man, as Howard has been bouncing around the league looking for a more stable home the last few years. It will be interesting to see how he fits into a locker room that already has its fair share of problems.

  • Michael Carter-Williams signs one year deal with the Rockets (via Adrian Wojnarowski)

  • Raymond Felton agrees to one-year deal with the Thunder (via Adrian Wojnarowski)
  • Jeff Green agrees to deal with the Washington Wizards (via Shams Charania)

More will be updated as we go along with NBA free agency.
