Jameis Winston has been suspended for the first three games of the regular season by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
This suspension stems from an incident in March 2016, where Winston allegedly groped an Uber driver.
Winston has released a statement in response to the NFL’s suspension.
The Buccaneers’ quarterback will be without pay for the three games in which he is not allowed to compete.
Tampa Bay will turn to Ryan Fitzpatrick to start the first three regular-season games. Last year, Fitzpatrick played in six and started three games for the Buccaneers, throwing for 1,103 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions.
The first three games will test the Buccaneers with games against the New Orleans Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, all of whom made the playoffs last season.
