Fortnite and Avengers Cross Paths

According to Epic, Fortnite is having an official Avenger themed event starting tomorrow, 5/8.

What is the event and what does it mean?

The details are that it will be a normal game to start off with 100 players dropping from the battlebus. Once you drop to your favorite spot (Greasy Grove for this writer) then the search is on for something a little different than your next kill, the Gauntlet.

In this game mode you are essentially Thanos. Once you retrieve the gauntlet then it sounds like you’re given power of some sort (no one knows exactly yet). This is not the only thing, you also become the target of everyone before you’re able to, well, “snap”.

A new mode like this brings a different feel than most other battle-royales. The free for all of individuals or teams is fun but having the potential to have 99 other people attacking one person is something completely different. It is safe to assume that having the gauntlet will make you much harder to kill.

This is a crossover unlike anything we’ve seen in a very long time. It shows just how popular Fortnite is. The cartoon style makes it possibly the only game in which a crossover like this could happen.

Fortnite is truly becoming the game of the non-gamer/casual gamer as it reaches incredible viewership numbers. It is an ever changing game as new guns, skins, and more are added every season.

It is only plausible to think that a crossover like this leads to endless other possibilities for movie and tv franchises to do the same. Fortnite will probably see another influx of players and viewers as it is likely that this event will only bring more people over to the free-to-play gaming phenomenon.
