Fantasy Football Players to Add for Week 15

Publish Date: December 11, 2018

It is 14 weeks into the fantasy football season and the waiver wire will be a hotbed of activity during the next few weeks leading into the championship week(s). Any good champion will need to go to the waiver wire to acquire players to make their team even better. Here are the Fantasy Football: players to add for week 15. (All stats and rankings are for standard, non-decimal scoring)

1. Elijah McGuire, RB, New York Jets

He started the season on Injured Reserve and has slowly seen more work. With Isaiah Crowell getting injured, McGuire stepped up for the Jets against the Bills. McGuire had 17 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown. He also did ok as a receiver.

The Jets seem content to use McGuire as a workhorse running back, while Crowell is out. Even if Crowell comes back, McGuire has earned the right for more work. He is available in just under 90% of ESPN leagues.

2. Chris Ivory, RB, Buffalo Bills

LeSean McCoy injured his hamstring against the Jets and Ivory took over most of the workload. He only gained 42 yards on 12 carries, but his potential volume over the next few weeks shouldn’t be ignored. With the Bills out of playoff contention, it would be pointless to rush McCoy back from his injury, even if he is listed as day to day.

Ivory will get a lot of carries as the other players who received work against the Jets were Marcus Murphy and a wide receiver in Isaiah McKenzie. If McCoy ends up being out for week 15, Ivory could be a failsafe at running back for a competing lineup. He is only owned in 5% of ESPN leagues.

3. Ian Thomas, TE, Carolina Panthers

With Greg Olsen out for the year, Cam Newton seems intent on using Thomas a lot for the rest of the season. The rookie tight end finished the game against the Browns with nine receptions for 77 yards. With the team struggling, they’ll need to replicate what works and Thomas clearly played well against the Browns.

There is some risk in this pickup, as he has a total of 18 points this fantasy season, which includes time with Greg Olsen out earlier in the year. Thomas is available in 75% of ESPN leagues.

4. Justin Jackson, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Now both Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler are injured. Their status for week 15 won’t be known until later in the week, so Jackson could be added and pay off big time. After exploding for 13 fantasy points against the Steelers (on limited touches), he got shut down for just three points against the bad Cincinnati defense.

One eye will need to be on the injury report before slotting Jackson in the lineup, as if Ekeler or Gordon can go, Jackson should be stashed on the bench. He is a free agent in over half of ESPN leagues.

5. Dante Pettis, WR, San Francisco 49ers

That is three straight weeks with double-digit points for Pettis. He is easily the go-to receiver for the 49ers, outside of tight end George Kittle. Pettis had three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. He is still big-play reliant, as he has just 12 catches over the last three weeks, but it has been working.

The 49ers have moved Pettis around to try to exploit matchups and seem like they will keep on using him down the stretch. He is available in 80% of ESPN leagues.
