It is 12 weeks into the fantasy football season and the waiver wire will be a hotbed of activity during the next few weeks leading into the championship week(s). Any good champion will need to go to the waiver wire to acquire players to make their team even better. Here are the Fantasy Football: players to add for week 13. (All stats and rankings are for standard, non-decimal scoring)
1. Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Edwards was on this list last week and continued to produce. He has not scored a touchdown in the last two weeks, but has broken the 100-yard mark in each game. After getting 17 carries against Cincinnati, Edwards had 23 against the Raiders. He has earned his touches will continue to see touches for the next few weeks.
The Ravens continue to play bad defenses in the next few weeks, including Atlanta and Kansas City, which helps Edwards’ value in fantasy. He was picked up by a lot of people, and rightfully so, but is still available in nearly 50% of ESPN leagues.
2. Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Ekeler has been a solid fantasy player this year, ranking 30th among running backs. He has been a good change of pace for Melvin Gordon. With Gordon now set to miss time with an MCL injury, Ekeler is set to get a bigger workload.
The most carries he has received in a game is 12 and that will surely increase. Although he was owned a lot more early in the season he has been dropped off a lot of fantasy teams as of late. Ekeler is available in almost half of ESPN leagues.
3. LeGarrette Blount, RB, Detroit Lions
With Kerryon Johnson out, Blount stepped up big time for the Lions with 88 yards and two touchdowns against a good Chicago defense. It’s definitely worth watching Johnson’s health to determine if Blount is worth the pickup. As this week showed, Blount is the running back to own in standard leagues for the Lions in Johnson’s absence.
He is widely available after mostly being a touchdown vulture for most of the season. Blount is owned in less than 20% of ESPN leagues.
4. Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Jackson had two great starts to start his career, but John Harbaugh said that he is still undecided about who will start if Joe Flacco is healthy. The situation is definitely worth watching because Jackson has been balling out in his first two game. He has 35 fantasy points over his first two starts and looks to be a solid player in the making.
Because Jackson has produced enough in his first two starts he is worth looking at and Harbaugh should make the choice to stay with him, but may trust the veteran Flacco. Jackson is available in half of ESPN leagues.
5. Josh Reynolds, WR, Los Angeles Rams
The last game Reynolds played was against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football last week, where he had eight receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. With Cooper Kupp’s injury, Reynolds will take a lot of his targets.
It will be hard for Reynolds to match the production that he did in the game against the Chiefs because of how many possessions the Rams had. He is still worth watching to see if he is worth a pickup. He is available in 66.67% of ESPN leagues.
