John Axford has been traded from the Blue Jays to the Dodgers for Corey Copping according to Ben-Nicholson Smith.
The Dodgers rank 11th in bullpen ERA this season at 3.73. They wanted to get some more quality bullpen pitchers for the postseason push. They currently sit atop the NL West with a record of 59-48.
Axford has a 4-1 record with a 4.41 ERA in 45 appearances. His job will be to help the team get outs in order to set up Kenley Jansen for the save opportunities.
Toronto has fallen into fourth place in the AL East and will not qualify for the playoffs. They will try to qualify again next season if the Red Sox and Yankees ever cool off.
Copping was acquired to help out their farm system for future seasons. He has a 3-0 record in Double-A and a 1-0 record in Triple-A. His total ERA for the season sits at 2.52.
