The college football season is approaching. There is always debate over ranking the best players in the sport. Here are the top 25 college football offensive tackles heading into the 2024 season.
Note: While projection of what a player can be is considered, most rankings are from what has been seen on the field. These are not NFL Draft rankings, but rather focus on the best players in college football.
25-21
25. Hollin Pierce, Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Pierce was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2023. His play helped Rutgers make their first bowl game since 2014 and now he will be expected to help them improve on that.
24. Luke Newman, Michigan State Spartans
Newman was an All-American at the FCS level at Holy Cross. Now, he is joining Jonathan Smith’s program at Michigan State.
23. Easton Kilty, Kansas State Wildcats
Kilty played at North Dakota to start his career and was one of the best offensive tackles available in the transfer portal. Kansas State plays a physical brand of football and Kilty will fit right in.
22. Trey Zuhn, Texas A&M Aggies
Zuhn started at left tackle for the Aggies as a freshman and sophomore. His experience is starting to show and will be entrenched at left tackle again in 2024.
21. Riley Mahlman, Wisconsin Badgers
After starting six games in 2022, Mahlman started 13 at right tackle for Wisconsin last season. Mahlman will help Luke Fickell in his second year at the program.
20-16
20. Blake Miller, Clemson Tigers
Miller was third-team All-ACC last season and was a bright spot for the Clemson offense. If the offense improves in 2024, Miller will be a big part of that.
19. Darius Washington, Florida State Seminoles
Florida State had an undefeated regular season and Washington helped pave the way, earning First Team All-ACC honors in the process. The left tackle has a chance for a big season.
18. Jack Nelson, Wisconsin Badgers
Nelson has plenty of experience at Wisconsin during his career, earning two All-Big Ten Honorable Mentions in his career. He started at right guard, but has played left tackle for the last two seasons.
17. Josh Fryar, Ohio State Buckeyes
Last season, Fryar got his first taste of starting full-time and was great. He played right tackle and was named First Team All-Big Ten.
16. Spencer Fano, Utah Utes
Fano was just a freshman last season, but he showed immense promise. He started most of the season at left tackle, but also played right tackle.
15-11
15. Logan Brown, Kansas Jayhawks
Brown got experience early in his career at Wisconsin and transferred to Kansas last season. Unfortunately, he got injured in his first season, but now he’s trying to provide an impact player.
14. Josh Conerly, Oregon Ducks
Last season, Conerly stepped into the starting lineup at left tackle and performed well. He was an All-PAC-12 Honorable Mention and now is helping Oregon transition to the Big Ten.
13. Francis Mauigoa, Miami Hurricanes
Mauigoa was a Freshman All-American last season for Miami. The offense is projected to take a step forward and so too is Mauigoa after an impressive freshman season.
12. Dalton Cooper, Oklahoma State Cowboys
Cooper was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention last season and will be looking for a big season in 2024. He cleared the way for Ollie Gordon to have a big season last year and could do the same.
11. Marques Cox, Kentucky Wildcats
Cox started his career at Northern Illinois where he found success. The 2023 season was the first at Kentucky. He has started 46 games in his college career.
10-6
10. J.C. Davis, Illinois Fighting Illini
Last season, Davis was First Team All-Mountain West for New Mexico. Now, he is joining Bret Bielema at Illinois.
9. Xavier Truss, Georgia Bulldogs
Truss could have gone in the 2024 NFL Draft, but decided to return to Georgia. The Bulldogs will have a talented offensive line, which is bolstered by Truss at right tackle.
8. Ajani Cornelius, Oregon Ducks
In his first season at Oregon, he was All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. He started his career at Rhode Island and adjusted to the new level of play at the FBS level last season.
7. Aireonte Ersery, Minnesota Golden Gophers
As an All-Big Ten selection last season, Ersery is one of the best returning offensive tackles in the sport. He’ll be crucial to the Minnesota offense this season, which has a lot of new faces looking to contribute.
6. Kadyn Proctor, Alabama Crimson Tide
Proctor transferred to Iowa for the spring semester, but then immediately returned to Alabama. He impressed as a true freshman for the Crimson Tide and this year should be even better.
5-1
5. Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona Wildcats
Savaiinaea is a two-time All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. The right tackle should be up for more awards after this season if his development continues.
4. Emery Jones, LSU Tigers
Jones is one of the good tackles that LSU has on their roster for this season. The right tackle was Second Team All-SEC last season and has a bright future.
3. Wyatt Millum, West Virginia Mountaineers
After All-Big 12 Second Team honors, Millum decided to return to West Virginia. He has plenty of experience and helped the Mountaineers make a bowl game last season.
2. Kelvin Banks, Texas Longhorns
Banks was a Second Team All-American last season and a Freshman All-American before that. He likely has one more season left before heading to the pros.
1. Will Campbell, LSU Tigers
Campbell was a First Team Freshman All-American as a freshman and then a Second Team All-SEC as a sophomore. He and Jones being together on the offensive line again, should have LSU in the running for the Joe Moore Award.
