Top 25 College Football Cornerbacks

The college football season is approaching. There is always debate over ranking the best players in the sport. Here are the top 25 college football cornerbacks heading into the 2025 season.

Note: There is some projection in these rankings for the upcoming season. These are not NFL Draft rankings, but rather focus on the best players in college football.

25. Smith Snowden, Utah Utes

Snowden was one of the better corners in the Big 12 in 2024, as he had eight passes defended and one interception. He can help Utah really improve in 2025. 

24. Dante Lovett, Virginia Tech Hokies

Lovett will have a bigger role in 2025 after having four passes defended in 2024. 

23. Zabien Brown, Alabama Crimson Tide

Brown earned playing time as a freshman last season for Alabama. He notched three interceptions and two passes defended in 2024. 

22. Daniel Harris, Georgia Bulldogs

Harris had three passes defended for Georgia last season and creates a nice pair of cornerbacks with Daylen Everette. 

21. DJ McKinney, Colorado Buffaloes

McKinney played across from Travis Hunter last season, which probably limited his ability to stand out. He played well with three interceptions and nine passes defended.

20. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State Buckeyes

Igbinosun can play in the slot or outside and impressed with his nine passes defended and two interceptions last season. He will need to cut down on his penalties in 2025 to really help Ohio State reach their goals. 

19. Daylen Everette, Georgia Bulldogs

Everette has played three seasons at Georgia and has plenty of big-game experience. He had three passes defended and three interceptions last season. 

18. Jalon Kilgore, South Carolina Gamecocks

Kilgore showed a nose for the ball with five interceptions and five passes defended in 2024. His experience on the backend will help South Carolina as they look to compete in the SEC next season. 

17. Jontez Williams, Iowa State Cyclones

Williams can be one of the best corners in the Big 12 this season after posting four interceptions and five passes defended in 2025. 

16. Cameron Calhoun, Alabama Crimson Tide

Calhoun provided depth on Michigan’s 2023 title team, then got playing time for Utah last season. After posting one interception and nine passes defended for Utah, Calhoun will join Alabama.

15. Jyaire Hill, Michigan Wolverines

Hill teamed up well with Will Johnson last season, when Johnson was healthy. He had one interception and eight passes defended and now will be the best corner in the room. 

14. Eli Bowen, Oklahoma Sooners

Bowen had a great freshman season for Oklahoma and is a part of a good defense. His one interception and four passes defended from last season should be surpassed this year. 

13. Jeremiah Wilson, Florida State Seminoles

Wilson has bounced around from Syracuse to Houston and now to Florida State. Last season with the Cougars, he tallied four interceptions and four passes defended. 

12. Mansoor Delane, LSU Tigers

Delane impressed at Virginia Tech over the last three seasons and now will join plenty of other transfers on LSU. He had seven passes defended and four interceptions in 2024.

11. Ashton Stamps, LSU Tigers

While he didn’t get an interception last season, Stamps had 14 passes defended. He will be a part of a much improved LSU defense this season.

10. Domani Jackson, Alabama Crimson Tide

After spending two years at USC, Jackson joined Alabama last season. He played the best football of his career, as he racked up seven passes defended and two interceptions. 

9. Jermaine Matthews, Ohio State Buckeyes

Matthews didn’t make many plays on the ball for the Buckeyes, but he was able to shut down his fair share of receivers. His experience will help an Ohio State team that lost a lot from their championship squad a year ago. 

8. AJ Harris, Penn State Nittany Lions

Harris played one season at Georgia before moving on to Penn State last season. He played solidly with one interception and five passes defended. 

7. Chandler Rivers, Duke Blue Devils

Rivers doesn’t receive as much national publicity playing at Duke, but he has developed well over his career. In 2024, he tallied three interceptions, eight passes defended and a touchdown for the Blue Devils.

6. D’Angelo Ponds, Indiana Hoosiers

Ponds is a smaller corner, but he makes plays. He made the transition last year from James Madison to Indiana and produced three interceptions and nine passes defended.

5. Tacario Davis, Washington Huskies

Davis specifically played well in 2023, when he had 15 passes defended and one interception. While last year wasn’t as good for Davis, he is now moving from Arizona to Washington where he can regain his form. 

4. Malik Muhammad, Texas Longhorns

Muhammad is a shutdown corner for Texas who had eight passes defended in 2024. Texas will be looking towards a national championship and Muhammad’s play in the secondary can help. 

3. Avieon Terrell, Clemson Tigers

Terrell followed in his brother A.J.’s footsteps to play for Clemson. Last season was his best yet, as he two interceptions and 12 passes defended. 

2. Jermod McCoy, Tennessee Volunteers

McCoy transferred from Oregon State to Tennessee last season and impressed. He tore his ACL in January, but is expected back after having four interceptions and nine passes defended in 2024. 

1. Leonard Moore, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Moore had a great freshman season for the Irish, which helped them reach the National Championship Game. He had 11 passed defended and two interceptions in 2024.
