
There has been plenty of conference realignment in the last few years. There are six teams joining the AAC. Here are the new AAC teams in 2023.
Previous Conference: C-USA
City: Charlotte, North Carolina
The 49ers are joining the AAC from C-USA. Their most recent winning season was when the team went 7-6 in 2019.
Previous conference: C-USA
City: Boca Raton, Florida
Florida Atlantic was in C-USA since being an FBS program in 2001. They went 5-7 last season and had their best seasons in 2017 and 2019 when they won 11 games.

City: Denton, Texas
North Texas has bounced around conferences from being an Independent, Big West, Sun Belt and C-USA. They went 6-7 last season. The Mean Green have won nine games in a season three times since 2013.

City: Houston, Texas
Rice will be joining the AAC from the C-USA. Last season they went 5-8.

City: Birmingham, Alabama
After canceling the football program following the 2014 season, UAB came back to the C-USA in 2017. They won 11 games in 2018. They’ve made six-straight bowl games.
Previous conference: C-USA
City: San Antonio, Texas
The Roadrunners began playing FBS football in 2011. They were an Independent for one season, then joined the WAC for one season before finally settling into the C-USA. Last season, they won 11 games, which follows a 12-win season in 2021.
