
The college football season is here. Every week, different news and notes will pop up, which will affect what happens on the field and off it. Here are the college football week 6 news and notes.
LSU cornerback and All-American Derek Stingley is out indefinitely after having foot surgery. He hopes to return to the field before the end of the season.
Oregon running back C.J. Verdell and safety Bennett Williams are both out for the season. Verdell had 397 rushing yards this season. Williams had totaled 20 tackles and three interceptions.
Alabama running back Jase McClellan is out for the season after having knee surgery. He had 191 rushing yards over four games.
After suffering a knee injury on Friday night against Iowa, Maryland wide receiver had surgery and is out for the season. Demus had 507 receiving yards in five games played this season.
Texas offensive lineman Denzel Okafor is out for the season, while defensive back Josh Thompson returned to practice. Thompson has 15 tackles and an interception in four games this season.
After Tennessee had a great day on the ground against Missouri, defensive line coach Jethro Franklin has been fired.
