The college football season is here. Every week, different news and notes will pop up, which will affect what happens on the field and off it. Here are the college football week 3 news and notes.
Pac-12 to Add Four Mountain West Teams
The Pac-12 will add Boise State, Fresno State, Colorado State and San Diego State according to Brett McMurphy. All of the teams will join in 2026.
SMU Names Kevin Jennings Starting Quarterback
SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee has named Kevin Jennings the starting quarterback over Preston Stone. Both had played early in the season. Jennings started for the Mustangs last season after Stone went down with an injury.
Florida Plans to Play Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway
Florida starting quarterback Graham Mertz was injured in week 1 against Miami. Five-star freshman DJ Lagway finished that game and started the game against Samford in week 2. Head coach Billy Napier has said that Mertz will start, but Lagway will still play.
Northwestern to Start Jack Lausch at Quarterback in Week 3
Mike Wright started the first two games of the season for Northwestern. Now, Jack Lausch will start beginning with their game against Eastern Illinois.

- Colorado safety Shilo Sanders is out two to three weeks with an arm injury.

- Arizona will debut a new red helmet for their game against Kansas State this week.
