College football is now in season. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 2.
USC starting quarterback JT Daniels tore his ACL in USC’s season opener against Fresno State. The sophomore will miss the rest of the season. The Trojans had a solid backup in Jack Sears, but he has since entered the transfer portal. Freshman Kedon Slovis stepped in for Daniels after the injury.
Jake Bentley injured his foot in the game against North Carolina and is now out indefinitely with a broken foot. Ryan Hilinski was a highly-touted recruit, who will now get the chance to play as a freshman. He’ll have his work cut out for him, as the Gamecocks opened up the season with a loss against North Carolina.
Purdue is naming their student gate at Ross-Ade Stadium after Tyler Trent, who passed away this offseason. Trent was a former student who battled cancer and was a friend of the program.
When the Air Force takes the field against Hawaii on October 19, they’ll be wearing special uniforms. These uniforms will honor the C-17 Aircraft.
In the season opener against Stanford, fifth-year senior quarterback T.J. Green entered the game to relieve Hunter Johnson. Green went down with a foot injury and had surgery this week. The son of former pro Trent Green will miss the rest of the season.
This will be updated up until week 2 kicks off!
