The college football season is here. Every week, different news and notes will pop up, which will affect what happens on the field and off it. Here are the college football week 2 news and notes.

LSU Defensive Lineman Maason Smith Out for Season

LSU defensive lineman Maason Smith injured his leg on Sunday night against Florida State while celebrating. He is now out for the season.



BYU Players Questionable vs. Baylor



BYU wide receivers Puka Nacua and Gunner Romney are questionable for the game against Baylor this weekend. Head coach Kalani Sitake did not have an update on their injury status this week.

Texas Tech Quarterback Tyler Shough Out Indefinitely

Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough will be out for a few weeks with an injury. It is either a collarbone or AC joint injury. He will miss a few weeks, which includes this weekend’s game against Houston.

Sam Hartman Cleared to Play

Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman was ruled out indefinitely with an undisclosed medical issue. He has been cleared to play against Vanderbilt this weekend after missing the Demon Deacons’ week 1 game.

Pat McAfee to be ESPN College GameDay Analyst

Pat McAfee has been named a permanent analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay. He has been a guest analyst before, but now will be a mainstay. McAfee is set to start with Alabama vs. Texas in week 2.
