College football is now in season. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 10.
The Arizona Wildcats have fired defensive coordinator Marcel Yates and linebackers coach John Rushing. Arizona was allowing 35 points per game this season. Chuck Cecil will take over on defense.
Notre Dame guard Tommy Kraemer left the Michigan game with an injury. Kraemer will now be out 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain.
Starting offensive tackle Lucas Niang is out for the season, as he needs hip surgery to repair a torn hip labrum. He was a key contributor on the offensive line and had been battling the injury since the start of the season.
Auburn backup quarterback Joey Gatewood has entered the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman will finish the school semester at Auburn before heading out. He has been used in running situations and has 148 yards on the ground to go with his three touchdowns.
Michigan State senior linebacker Joe Bachie has been ruled ineligible after testing positive for a banned substance. The Spartans will appeal the suspension.
Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace tore his ACL in practice this week and is done for the year. He has already decided to return for his senior season next year instead of declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.
