

The college football season is here. Every week, different news and notes will pop up, which will affect what happens on the field and off it. Here are the college football week 1 news and notes.
Michigan has named true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood as its starter.
North Carolina has named South Alabama transfer Gio Lopez as starting quarterback. They open the season with TCU Monday night.
Kansas State has announced that running back Dylan Edwards will miss this week’s game against South Dakota and is doubtful for the game in week 3 against Army. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the news.
South Carolina running back Rashul Faison has been cleared to play by the NCAA. He accounted for over 1,200 yards at Utah State last season.
Alabama defensive lineman injured his ankle Tuesday. He will have a tightrope surgery and is out for a couple of weeks.
