
The college football season is here. Every week, different news and notes will pop up, which will affect what happens on the field and off it. Here are the college football week 1 news and notes.
West Virginia has named Georgia transfer JT Daniels the starting quarterback for the season. He has passed for 4,840 yards, 32 touchdowns and 16 interceptions on 63.8 percent completion. The Mountaineers open up the season against Pittsburgh in week 1.
Auburn had a quarterback battle this offseason and T.J. Finley came out on top. He has played for both LSU and Auburn in the past. Finley has 1,768 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions on 56 percent completion. The Tigers play Mercer in week 1.
Vanderbilt has sold naming rights to their stadium. The stadium will now be called FirstBank Stadium.
-Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian doesn’t plan on releasing a depth chart this season.
