College Football Playoff Bracketology: November 8

Publish Date: November 8, 2026

Each week, teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology: November 8.

Note: This will be updated following each week of games during the season.

First Round Byes

1. Georgia Bulldogs (8-1)*

Georgia looks like the most dominant team in the country after defeating Ole Miss this week. With Miami losing, Georgia should be the top team this week.

This week: vs. Missouri Tigers (6-3)

2. Utah Utes (9-0)*

Utah won the Holy War against BYU for a quality win. That helps them move up to the second spot, but so too does Miami’s loss.

This week: at Arizona Wildcats (7-2)

3. Indiana Hoosiers (8-1)*

Indiana didn’t play this week, but still move up. While they aren’t playing like the third-best team in the country, the CFP Committee had them ranked fourth last week.

This week: vs. USC Trojans (7-2)

4. Alabama Crimson Tide (7-2)

Alabama got a big win over LSU on the road to move up into the top four. They were ranked No. 5 by the CFP Committee last week, which shocked a lot of the college football world, but that makes it reasonable to put Alabama at No. 4 this week.

This week:  at Vanderbilt Commodores (4-5)

First Round Hosts

5. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-1)

Notre Dame got their best win of the season by defeating Miami at home. They should see a significant jump in the rankings, for beating the top team in the country heading into the week. Notre Dame’s loss to BYU still hurts their case, but now they can make a push for the top four.

This week: vs. Boston College Eagles (4-5)

6. Texas Longhorns (7-2)

Texas notched a win on the road over Missouri and moved up a spot as a result. The Longhorns have won three straight games and now have a big game at LSU to really solidify their case for the CFP.

This week: at LSU Tigers (6-3)

7. Miami Hurricanes (8-1)*

The Hurricanes lost a close one on the road at Notre Dame. They fall to seventh in the rankings, as their schedule can now be scrutinized. Miami has a nice win over Wake Forest, but lacks another big win.

This week: vs. Duke Blue Devils (7-2)

8. UCLA Bruins (9-0)

The CFP Committee ranked UCLA no. 8 last week and they may stay there with Notre Dame jumping them. The Bruins got a solid win over Minnesota this week and, despite staying at the same ranking, have set themselves up for a run to end the season.

This week: Illinois Fighting Illini (6-3)

Last Four In

9. Tennessee Volunteers (7-2)

Tennessee should be ranked higher than Alabama after beating them head-to-head, but the Committee had them ranked much lower. After beating Kentucky, they do move into the field, as it was a big win. If they get close enough to Alabama by the end of the year, they should jump the Crimson Tide.

This week: at Texas A&M Aggies (4-5)

10. Kentucky Wildcats (7-2)

Kentucky lost big to Tennessee for their second loss of the season. They drop four spots in the rankings, as their two losses are to good teams. The Wildcats have some decent wins in the SEC, but may have to win out to make the CFP.

This week: vs. Florida Gators (5-4)

11. Texas Tech Red Raiders (8-1)

Texas Tech won a shootout against West Virginia to win their eighth game of the season. The Red Raiders have one loss to Cincinnati, but are in a good spot for an at-large spot in the CFP and/or a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game after the week’s results.

This week: at Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-3)

12. Boise State Broncos (8-1)*

Boise State had a backup quarterback in, but still scored 64 points and defeated Colorado State. The Broncos lost to Oregon, but have won every other game to put themselves ahead of other Group of Six contenders.

This week: vs. Oregon State Beavers (5-4)

First Four Out

BYU Cougars (7-2)

BYU falls out of the rankings after losing to Utah. If they are able to win down the stretch, they can still make the CFP, as the Notre Dame win still carries a lot of weight.

This week: vs. Baylor Bears (6-3)

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-1)

Wake Forest defeated Merrimack this week, which won’t move the Committee too much. Their lone loss is to Miami, but they were still ranked 16th in the first week of the CFP rankings. The Demon Deacons have some tough games down the stretch and can play their way into the field.

This week: at SMU Mustangs (7-2)

Houston Cougars (7-2)

Houston lost to Texas Tech and Utah, the best teams in the Big 12, They defeated Cincinnati this week for a decent win. Winning out and having their two losses be to those teams could be enough to squeak into the CFP in the end.

This week: at Colorado Buffaloes (3-6)

Ole Miss Rebels (6-3)

Ole Miss lost big to Georgia for their third loss of the season. It will be hard for them to overcome and make the CFP, but if more chaos happens, it is more than possible.

This week: at Oklahoma Sooners (5-4)

First Four Out-Group of Six

 New Mexico Lobos (8-1)

New Mexico defeated Nevada 31-3 this week to stay right on the cusp of making the CFP. They will keep cheering against Boise State down the stretch for their CFP hopes.

This week: vs. UNLV Rebels (5-4)

Liberty Flames (8-1)

Liberty won on the road over New Mexico State, keeping them in the running for the CFP. They will need a lot of help in the next few weeks.

This week: vs. Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

North Texas Mean Green (7-2)

The Mean Green are undefeated in the American Conference and 7-2 overall. While the CFP is likely out of reach the Mean Green have had a nice season.

This week: at UTSA Roadrunners (7-2)

Memphis Tigers (7-2)

Memphis has lost to Boise State and Tulane this season. The Tigers have had a good season, but would need a lot of help to be seriously considered for the CFP.

This week: at USF Bulls (6-3)
