College Football Playoff Bracketology November 5

Publish Date: November 5, 2023

Each week teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Preseason rankings will not be taken into consideration here. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology November 5.

CFP Four

1. Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0)

While they struggled in the first half, Ohio State turned it on in the second half to beat a six-win Rutgers team. They have good wins over Notre Dame and Penn State bolstering their case to keep the number one spot.

This week: vs. Michigan State Spartans (3-6)

2. Georgia Bulldogs (9-0)

Georgia was ranked second in the initial CFP rankings and will likely hold that spot after picking up a ranked win over Missouri. It was their best win of the season, although the schedule still has a couple tough games left.

This week: vs. Ole Miss Rebels (8-1)

3. Michigan Wolverines (9-0)

Michigan defeated Purdue this week amid plenty of distractions due to the sign-stealing investigation. The win won’t help the perception that Michigan still doesn’t have a good win, but staying undefeated is still very important.

This week: at Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1)

4. Florida State Seminoles (9-0)

Florida State took awhile, but they eventually took care of Pittsburgh. It wasn’t a great performance, but the Seminoles still have an impressive case for the CFP with some key wins and an undefeated record.

This week: vs. Miami Hurricanes (6-3)

First Four Out

5. Washington Huskies (9-0)

Washington won a high-scoring matchup against USC in week 10 to stay undefeated. They have a huge win over Oregon and are on a good case to make the CFP, even if the committee left them out of the initial rankings.

This week: vs. Utah Utes (7-2)

6. Oregon Ducks (8-1)

Oregon had no problems defeating Cal, as they scored 63 points in their win. Their only loss is to Washington, which keeps them in good position to make a push for a CFP spot if they win out.

This week: vs. USC Trojans (7-3)

7. Texas Longhorns (8-1)

Texas needed overtime to beat Kansas State, but they got the job done. They won the game with backup quarterback Maalik Murphy starting with starter Quinn Ewers out injured. With their win over Alabama, the Longhorns should stay at number seven this week.

This week: at TCU Horned Frogs (4-5)

8. Alabama Crimson Tide (8-1)

Alabama avenged their loss to LSU last season, which keeps their CFP hopes alive. The Crimson Tide stay at number eight, as Texas has a head-to-head win over them.

This week: at Kentucky Wildcats (6-3)

Next Four Out

9. Ole Miss Rebels (8-1)

Ole Miss won a close one over Texas A&M to keep their slim CFP hopes alive. They rank ninth after Oklahoma lost, but will need some help down the stretch to keep moving up.

This week: at Georgia Bulldogs (9-0)

10. Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1)

Penn State had no problems with Maryland this week. They move up a spot with Oklahoma losing, but have a big test against Michigan in week 11.

This week: vs. Michigan Wolverines (9-0)

11. Louisville Cardinals (8-1)

Louisville defeated a solid Virginia Tech team to get their eighth win of the season. They have a slim chance to make the CFP, but do have a good chance to make the ACC Championship.

This week: vs. Virginia Cavaliers (2-7)

12. Missouri Tigers (7-2)

Missouri stays at 12 after losing to Georgia, but they shouldn’t be penalized, as they played them pretty closely on the road. Their CFP hopes are likely over, but there is still plenty to play for this season.

This week: vs. Tennessee Volunteers (7-2)
