College Football Playoff Bracketology: November 1

College Football Playoff Bracketology November 1

Publish Date: November 1, 2026

Each week, teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology: November 1.

Note: This will be updated following each week of games during the season.

First Round Byes

1. Miami Hurricanes (8-0)*

With seemingly everyone else dropping games, Miami is the clear top team. They struggled on the road against UNC, which likely brought up some bad memories of losing games they should win for Hurricanes fans, but they got the job done. Their best win is over Wake Forest, but the undefeated record and eye test probably carry more weight for Miami.

This week: at Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1)

2. Georgia Bulldogs (7-1)*

Georgia defeated Florida for another ranked win. They have a great win over Alabama, and other than the Auburn game, they look like they could be the best win in the country.

This week: at Ole Miss Rebels (6-2)

3. UCLA Bruins (8-0)*

UCLA defeated Nevada 27-0 in Week 9. The Bruins remain undefeated, but lack big wins, as their best might be over Oregon, who has struggled this season.

This week: at Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-3)

4. Utah Utes (8-0)*

Last week, Utah got a ranked win over Houston. This week, they blew out Cincinnati on the road, after the Bearcats upset Texas Tech last week. The Utes are ranked fifth in strength of record, which could give the committee a chance to rank them highly in the first release of the rankings on Tuesday.

This week: vs. BYU Cougars (7-1)

First Round Hosts

5. Indiana Hoosiers (8-1)

Indiana still just has the loss to Ohio State, but are playing some close games. They can’t get the offense going, but they are winning some tough games. If the committee takes the eye test into account, the Hoosiers will not be ranked this high.

This week: BYE

6. BYU Cougars (7-1)

BYU had a close win over Arizona State this week, possibly looking ahead on their schedule. Their win over Notre Dame really helps carry their case for this ranking still, but the Cougars still have a great path in the Big 12 if they win this week.

This week: at Utah Utes (7-1)

7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1)

The Fighting Irish struggled with Navy in the first half, then bounced back and won easily, 35-13. Notre Dame still lacks a big win this season, but will have a big chance in Week 10.

This week: vs. Miami Hurricanes (8-0)

8. Kentucky Wildcats (7-1)

Kentucky had a bye in Week 9, but move up in the rankings with Ohio State dropping out. The Wildcats have only lost to Alabama, but have solid wins over Texas A&M, South Carolina, Oklahoma and LSU. They have a case to be ranked higher than this (SOR, SOS), but the committee doesn’t always use those metrics religiously.

This week: at Tennessee Volunteers (6-2)

Last Four In

9. Texas Longhorns (6-2)

Texas dominated Mississippi State this week, setting them up for a possible run through the back half of their schedule. Their win over Ohio State took a hit, but they should still get credit with the Buckeyes having starting quarterback Julian Sayin healthy for that one.

This week: at Missouri Tigers (6-2)

10. Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2)

The Crimson Tide were off in Week 9, but before that defeated Texas A&M to snap a two-game skid. Alabama has a nice win over Kentucky, helping their ranking. They have a big game coming up against LSU that could really bolster their spot in the rankings.

This week: at LSU Tigers (6-2)

11. Ole Miss Rebels (6-2)

Ole Miss pulled away from Auburn to win handily, 45-15. The Rebels have some key wins over Missouri and LSU to put them back in the field for this week.

This week: vs. Georgia Bulldogs (7-1)

12. Boise State Broncos (7-1)*

One of the later games of the night resulted in Boise State blowing a big lead in the second half, but ultimately winning over Texas State. The health of quarterback Maddux Madsen will be in question, as he left the game with an injury. They have wins over Memphis and Fresno State this year and their only loss is to Oregon.

This week: at Colorado State Rams (3-5)

First Four Out

LSU Tigers (6-2)

LSU had their week off before they play Alabama in Week 10. The Tigers have some decent wins, but nothing that really stands out, so a win over the Crimson Tide could be needed for them to make the CFP when it is all said and done.

This week: vs. Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2)

Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-1)

Texas Tech lost to Cincinnati on the road last week, then returned home and defeated a ranked Arizona team. They could make it as an at-large team, but still could win the Big 12 to ensure they get in.

This week: vs. West Virginia Mountaineers (5-3)

Ohio State Buckeyes (6-2)

Ohio State lost on the road to USC with a backup quarterback. Their win over Indiana helps their case, but they will need to win some games as the roster currently is to build back up some good will.

This week: vs. Oregon Ducks (5-3)

Tennessee Volunteers (6-2)

The Volunteers have lost to Texas and South Carolina this season, but their big win over Alabama keeps them on the bubble for the CFP. There is plenty of room to play their way into the field during the last few weeks of the season.

This week: vs. Kentucky Wildcats (7-1)

First Four Out- Group of Six

 New Mexico Lobos (7-1)

New Mexico won a close one on the road against San Jose State this week. They still have only lost to Oklahoma and if Boise State slips up, they will likely get the Group of Six spot.

This week: at Nevada Wolf Pack (3-5)

UTSA Roadrunners (7-1)

The Roadrunners were off in Week 9, but move up a spot with James Madison losing. They will be hoping for Boise State and New Mexico losses down the stretch.

This week: at Florida Atlantic Owls (5-3)

Liberty Flames (7-1)

Liberty lost in Week 1 to James Madison, but has won every game since. With James Madison dropping two games and Oregon State dropping a third, Liberty has entered the mix.

This week: at New Mexico State Aggies (3-5)

Memphis Tigers (7-2)

Memphis has lost to Boise State and Tulane, but has won their other games and are in play for an American Conference Championship.

This week: BYE
