College Football Playoff Bracketology December 8

Publish Date: December 8, 2019

The college football season is in the books. Each week the performance of the teams on the field can be looked at to see who is in the best position to make the College Football Playoff. Note that this bracketology will only take into consideration what happened on the field, so teams who played tough games will be ranked high. Conversely, hyped-up teams who haven’t played tough games yet, will likely be unranked or ranked lowly on the list until there is a solid sample size. Here is the College Football Playoff bracketology December 8.

CFP Four

1. LSU Tigers (13-0)

LSU capped off a terrific season by knocking Georgia out of the playoffs. Ohio State jumped back up to the first spot recently, but the Tigers beat a higher-ranked team in their conference championship. The Tigers beat Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Auburn and have proven to be the top team in the country.

2. Ohio State Buckeyes (13-0)

The Buckeyes were first heading into the weekend, but simply played a lower-ranked team than LSU. Ohio State beat Wisconsin and are clearly deserving of a top-two spot, but simply don’t have the same number of impressive wins as LSU.

3. Clemson Tigers (13-0)

Clemson didn’t have too many problems this season, but that is why they are ranked third. They don’t have an impressive resume, but got to the CFP and now can prove all they need to.

4. Oklahoma Sooners (12-1)

With Oklahoma and Georgia losing, Oklahoma gets the last spot in the CFP. They beat Baylor in overtime, which isn’t the most impressive result, but the Sooners got the job done.

First Four Out

5. Baylor Bears (11-2)

Baylor played Oklahoma really close with a third-string quarterback in the game. They lost, but they may actually move up the rankings for their good performance. Utah and Georgia also lost, but at the end of the day they will all be ranked in this range.

6. Georgia Bulldogs (11-2)

LSU torched Georgia’s defense in this game, which was not normal for the Bulldogs. They won’t drop too far though, as other teams around them in the rankings lost as well.

7. Florida Gators (10-2)

The Gators had a good season with a backup quarterback in for most of the season. They lost to LSU and Georgia, but did win a big game against Auburn this season. They should be in a New Year’s Six Bowl Game.

8. Oregon Ducks (10-2)

Oregon dropped two games this season, but rebounded to win the Pac-12. They are headed to the Rose Bowl, which is a nice way to end the season.

Next Four Out

9. Utah Utes (11-2)

Utah had a great season, but lost in the Pac-12 Championship Game for the second-straight season. They could’ve been in the CFP with a win, but will now drop in the rankings.

10. Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2)

The Nittany Lions were idle this weekend, but drop a spot because Oregon won the Pac-12 and jumps them. They will be in play for a New Year’s Six Bowl Game.

11. Auburn Tigers (9-3)

Auburn didn’t have a game this week, but are still riding high after their win over Alabama.

12. Alabama Crimson Tide (10-2)

The Crimson Tide dropped a lot after their loss to Auburn and unfortunately won’t be able to move up without playing a game.
