The College Football Playoff Board has approved a 12-team playoff according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The only question now is when it will start, as it could be in 2024 or 2026.
The 12-team playoff will not happen this season, but could start as early as next season, if the last two years of the agreement of a four-team playoff is abandoned.
After seven seasons of a College Football Playoff format, the expansion will net more revenue.
This story will be updated when more details are released.
