College Football ’18: Players to Watch in Week 13

It’s the final week of the college football regular season, and The Game Haus will highlight five players to watch from games featuring Top 25 teams. From established stars to players on the verge of breaking out, we’ll offer some names to remember.

Here’s a look at five players to watch in Week 13 (All times Eastern):

Myles Gaskin, RB, No. 16 Washington

Matchup: at No. 7 Washington State, 8:30 p.m., Friday

Breakdown: He needs 94 yards for a fourth straight 1,000-yard rushing season, and he still has some work to do to reach 1,300 for the fourth time in as many campaigns. Gaskin ran for 380 yards (5.2 per carry) with an impressive seven touchdowns while the Huskies have gone 3-0 against Washington State in his career. The stakes are higher this season, and if Washington wants to continue its dominance in the Apple Cup, Gaskin must remain a huge part of the plan.

Dwayne Haskins, QB, No. 10 Ohio State

Matchup: vs. No. 4 Michigan, Noon, Saturday

Breakdown: When Ohio State needed a leader last week against Maryland, Haskins delivered with 405 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Buckeyes narrowly avoided an upset to the Terps, but the challenge is as great as it has been all season this weekend. One of the obvious players to watch, Haskins has his work cut out for him against a Michigan defense that’s allowed just 31 points in three Big Ten road games this season.

D’Andre Walker, LB, Georgia

Matchup: vs. Georgia Tech, Noon, Saturday

Breakdown: Stopping the Yellow Jackets’ option attack won’t be easy, but Walker could be up to the challenge. Georgia has held each of its last three opponents to fewer than 105 yards rushing. Walker, meanwhile, leads the team with eight tackles for loss. When Tech does decide to throw, there’s a good chance Walker will be in the backfield, as his team-high 5 1/2 sacks will attest.

Dexter Williams, RB, No. 3 Notre Dame

Matchup: at USC, 8 p.m., Saturday

Breakdown: USC is giving up an average of 168.4 rushing yards and just yielded a season-high 313 to UCLA last weekend – 289 on 40 carries to Joshua Kelley. Williams has to be salivating for the chance to go up against that generous Trojans run defense. He’s averaging 6.7 yards per carry, had 202 versus Florida State earlier this month and has scored 11 touchdowns on the ground.

David Woodward, LB, No. 14 Utah State

Matchup: at No. 21 Boise State, 10:15 p.m., Saturday

Breakdown: The reigning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week will try to help the Aggies claim a division title this weekend on the blue turf. Utah State might need another monster effort from the sophomore, who recorded 20 tackles against Colorado State last weekend. It was the sixth double-digit tackle game of the season for Woodward, who is the fourth Aggie to make at least 20 tackles in a contest since 2000.
