Boston College is nearing a deal to hire Bill O’Brien to be their next head coach according to multiple reports.
O’Brien was recently hired as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator following the 2023 season. He will be taking the Boston College job before ever coaching a game for the Buckeyes.
In the NFL, O’Brien was a head coach for the Houston Texans and also spent time as an assistant for the Patriots.
At the college level, he was the lead man for Penn State following Joe Paterno. He posted a 15-9 record despite having scholarship limitations due to the fallout of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. O’Brien spent time as Alabama’s offensive coordinator from 2021-2022.
For the Eagles, O’Brien takes over for Jeff Haffley. Haffley left Boston College to take the defensive coordinator job with the Green Bay Packers. He was 22-26 overall at the school.
O’Brien takes over a team that went 7-6 last season.
