The game was designed to be a neutral site game, although Florida State’s campus is way closer to Jacksonville. Doak Campbell Stadium provided an opening and was a good alternative, although now Florida State will get to play in their home stadium.
Both teams will kick off the season with this game, as neither played during week 0.
