Former Alabama Quarterback Jalen Hurts officially announced today he would be transferring. Hurts was the Alabama starter and went 26-2, throwing for 5,626 yards, 48 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions. Hurts also added 1,976 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns.
He was benched for current starter Tua Tagovailoa at halftime in the 2018 Championship game against Georgia. Tagovailoa was able to lead the come from behind victory. This season Hurts was the backup behind Tagovailoa and decided to stay and graduate instead of transferring. Now that he’s officially graduated, Hurts plans to play somewhere else next year. Here are some of the best possibilities for Hurts.

Maryland Terrapins
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Mike Locksley was hired as the next head coach of Maryland for next season. Following Locksley makes sense, as Hurts knows his system and would immediately step in as the starter. Starter Kasim Hill tore his ACL for the second time and leaves a clear need for Hurts. Hurts would have a dynamic running back at his side in Anthony McFarland Jr. who would help open up the passing game. This would allow for him to work and improve his passing.
Bleacher Report Odds: +400
Tennessee Volunteer’s
Tennessee’s head coach, Jeremy Pruitt is Hurts former defensive coordinator at Alabama. Hurts’ former Alabama teammate and offensive linemen Brandon Kennedy already transferred to Tennessee. Transferring to Tennessee would allow for Hurts to stay in the SEC and compete against Alabama.
Bleacher Report Odds: +1000
Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma has an opening now that Kyler Murray is either going to enter the NFL or MLB. The past two Oklahoma quarterbacks won the Heisman, and both were transfers. Hurts would fit in nicely as Lincoln Riley knows how to bring the best out of his quarterbacks. They boast one of the most explosive offensives in the game and the defense can only improve after a disastrous season. This would give Hurts one of his best chances at competing for another Championship.
Bleacher Report Odds: NA
Florida Atlantic Owls
FAU is a long shot, but the current head coach Lane Kiffin, was Hurts’ offensive coordinator in 2016 at Alabama. Kiffin played a huge part in recruiting Hurts to Alabama in the first place. Playing in Conference USA is not on most top prospects’ wish lists but, the Owls offer Hurts a chance to flourish. In Hurts’ one year underKiffinn, he threw for 2780 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Hurts and Kiffen led the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship and a College Championship appearance. Teaming up again would make sense because of the familiarity between the two, but it would be very unlikely Hurts would want to play in Conference USA.

Houston Cougars
The Houston Cougars were given the best odds to land Hurts, via Bleacher Report. Hurts grew up and played high school football in Channelview, Texas, which is very close to Houston. This would give Hurts to come home and be closer to his family.Houston’s new coach Dana Holgorsen is known for helping develop quarterbacks. His latest protege, Will Grier made a name for himself at West Virginia. Houston’s starting Quarterback,
scored fifty total touchdowns before tearing his meniscus in November. If King can fully recover from his knee injury before the season starts, it could lead to some stiff competition for Hurts.Bleacher Report Odds: +150
