The 2026 Allstate Sugar Bowl features the 12-1 Ole Miss Rebels and the 12-1 Georgia Bulldogs. Here is the 2026 Allstate Sugar Bowl Preview.
The Rebels won 11 games to qualify for their first CFP. They defeated four bowl-eligible teams this regular season: Tulane, LSU, Washington State and Oklahoma. Their lone loss was to Georgia, a team that made the CFP. Lane Kiffin accepted the LSU job and will not be coaching the team in the CFP, as Pete Golding, former defensive coordinator, is now the head coach. Ole Miss dominated Tulane in the first round of the CFP.
Ole Miss scores 37.5 points per game, ranking 10th in the country. They pass for 312.4 yards (ranked third) and rush for 185.6 yards (ranked 33rd) per game.
Trinidad Chambliss started the season as the backup after transferring up from D-II-level Ferris State. He took over the starting job and played well, passing for 3,298 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions on 66.6 percent completion. Six pass catchers have over 350 receiving yards on the season. Penn State transfer Harrison Wallace is the leading target with 738 yards and three touchdowns. Deuce Alexander, Cayden Lee, De’Zhaun Stribling and tight end Dae’Quan Wright have also all been great targets.
Kewan Lacy handles the majority of the carries out of the backfield for the Rebels. He rushed for 1,366 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season. Chambliss has been the team’s second-leading rusher from the quarterback position with 506 yards and eight touchdowns. No other player on the team has more than 30 carries on the season.
The Rebels’ defense concedes 19.3 points per game, ranking 22nd in the FBS. They allow 147.8 rushing yards (ranked 66th) and 192.1 passing yards (ranked 29th) per game. Linebacker TJ Dottery has the team-high with 83 sacks. Princwell Umanmielen pressures the quarterback well and has eight sacks on the year. Wydett Williams Jr. has been impressive with eight passes defended and three interceptions.
Georgia won 12 games to make their second-straight 12-team CFP. They defeated five bowl-eligible teams this regular season: Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas, Georgia Tech and Alabama. Their only loss of the season was to Alabama during the regular season. They received a first-round bye.
The Bulldogs score 31.9 points per game, tying them for 33rd in the country. They pass for 220.3 yards (ranked 74th) and rush for 186.6 yards (ranked 31st) per game.
Gunner Stockton started in the CFP last year and returned for the Bulldogs. He has passed for 2,691 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions on 70.7 percent completion. Six pass-catchers have over 200 receiving yards on the season. Zachariah Branch has been the standout of the group with 73 catches for 744 yards and five touchdowns.
Four running backs have over 200 rushing yards on the season. Nate Frazier has been the leader with 861 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Chauncey Bowens, Stockton and Dwight Phillips Jr. have all helped out with 516, 442 and 210 rushing yards apiece.
Defensively, the Bulldogs allow 15.92 points per game, ranking ninth in the country. They concede 79.2 rushing yards (ranked fourth) and 205.3 passing yards (ranked 48th) per game. CJ Allen has been the leading tackler on the team with 85. Chris Cole has the team-high with 4.5 sacks. Ellis Robinson IV has made plays on the ball with seven passes defended and four interceptions.
These two teams have already played and Georgia came out on top. Their defense should limit Ole Miss and their own offense has the capability to create big plays. The Bulldogs can win and advance in the bracket.
