2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl Preview

Publish Date: December 17, 2025

The 2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl features the 6-6 Penn State Nittany Lions and the 7-5 Clemson Tigers. Here is the 2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl Preview.

Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State won six games to qualify for their fifth straight bowl game. They defeated two bowl-eligible teams this season: Florida International and Nebraska. Their only loss to a team that didn’t make a bowl game was to UCLA. James Franklin was fired this season and Terry Smith has been the interim head coach.

The Nittany Lions score 31.8 points per game, tying them for 35th in the country. They pass for 181.6 yards (ranked 110th) and rush for 177.5 yards (ranked 46th) per game.

Drew Allar started the year at quarterback, so Ethan Grunkemeyer took over. He passed for 1,079 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions on 69.4 percent completion. Five players have at least 200 receiving yards on the season. Several transfers were brought in at the wide receiver position. Trebor Pena, Devonte Ross and Kryon Hudson all transferred in and had 452, 417 and 288 receiving yards.

Two running backs have done the majority of the work for Penn State. Kaytron Allen has led the team with 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns. Nicholas Singleton rushed for 549 yards this season, but he is opting out of this bowl game, so other players will need to step up.

Defensively, Penn State allows 21.42 points per game, ranking 37th in the country. They give up 150.7 rushing yards (ranked 72nd) and 183.5 passing yards (ranked 22nd) per game. Amare Campbell has been all over the field with 96 total tackles. Dani Dennis-Sutton leads the team with 6.5 sacks. King Mack has had three passes defended and one interception on the year. They have a few key players on defense who have opted out, including defensive lineman Zane Durant and safety Zakee Wheatley.

Clemson Tigers

The Tigers won seven games to make their 21st straight bowl game. They defeated two bowl-eligible teams this season: Troy and Louisville. Their lone loss to a team who didn’t qualify for a bowl game was to Syracuse.

Clemson scores 28.7 points per game, tying them for 60th in the country. They pass for 274 yards (ranked 20th) and rush for 131.2 yards (ranked 99th) per game.

Cade Klubnik returned at quarterback for the Tigers, which elevated the preseason expectations. He has passed for 2,750 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions on 66.6 percent completion. Five players have at least 200 receiving yards on the season for the Tigers. T.J. Moore leads the team with 754 receiving yards. Antonio Williams paces the team with 55 catches, but he has opted out. Bryant Wesco Jr. has been the leader in touchdown catches with six.

Two running backs carried the load for Clemson. Adam Randall, a former receiver, rushed for 779 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the team. Freshman Gideon Davidson helped out with 249 rushing yards.

The Tigers’ defense concedes 20.42 points per game, ranking 29th in the country. They allow 102.8 rushing yards (ranked 15th) and 150.5 passing yards (ranked 117th) per game. Sammy Brown leads the team in tackles with 91. Will Heldt has 7.5 sacks, which is the team high. Aveion Terrell has been a great corner with nine passes defended, but he opted out of the bowl game. Along with Terrell, T.J. Parker, DeMonte Capehart and Peter Woods have opted out, greatly hurting the defensive line.

Prediction

There are a lot of opt outs for this game. The one thing that Clemson has that Penn State doesn’t is their starting quarterback in Klubnik. With that, their offense has way more potential for this game.

Clemson Tigers 28 Penn State Nittany Lions 14
