eight weeks of the college football season has certainly brought a lot of excitement. With the more weeks that go on, more news and notes will be put together. Here are some of the things happening around the sport of college football heading into week 9
UCF AD not happy with ESPN’s College Gameday
— Danny White (@UCFDannyWhite) October 22, 2018
Late Sunday night, UCF AD Danny White tweeted the above statement. He is continuing the fight of the group of five conference schools, who want a chance at a National Championship. Schools from those conferences are being criticized for their poor schedules. It is unlikely that anything immediately changes with the current College Football Playoff.
TCU without two key players
After putting up big numbers against Oklahoma, all-purpose player KaVontae Turpin was arrested on Sunday for a misdemeanor charge of assault with bodily injury of a family member. This stems from a fight he had with his girlfriend and he is suspended indefinitely, while the program gathers more information.
TCU will also be without quarterback Shawn Robinson, who will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. He has continued to play through the injury which occurred in their September 22 game against Texas. Michael Collins subbed in for Robinson on Saturday against Oklahoma and will start in Robinson’s absence.
Michigan and Michigan State continue to feud over week 8 incident
Michigan State had their pregame tradition of locking arms and walking from one end zone to the other before their game against Michigan. With Michigan players already on the field, it created a scuffle. Michigan linebacker Devin Bush then went and scuffed the Spartan logo at midfield. Since then, there has been back and forth over whether it was an orchestrated event by Michigan State or if Michigan players were on the field when they shouldn’t have been. Here is the latest:
