College Football Playoff Bracketology: October 19

Publish Date: October 19, 2025

Each week, teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and defeated already on the field. Here is College Football Playoff Preseason Bracketology: October 19.

Note: This will be updated following each week of games during the season. During the season more notes about the notable wins, losses and schedule will be included for each team.

First Round Byes

1. Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0)*

Ohio State shut down Wisconsin this week. While the win won’t add more to their case, the Buckeyes are the clear best team in the country right now.

This week: BYE

2. Indiana Hoosiers (7-0)

Indiana blew right past Michigan State in week 8 to stay undefeated. Their wins over Illinois and Oregon are impressive and with Miami losing, the Hoosiers move up to the two seed.

This week: vs. UCLA Bruins (3-4)

3. Texas A&M Aggies (7-0)*

The Aggies defeated Arkansas in a rivalry game that was delayed by weather. The Aggies move down a spot after Ole Miss defeated Georgia on the road, but the Aggies are still in a great spot heading into the backend of the season.

This week: at LSU Tigers (5-2)

4. Alabama Crimson Tide (6-1)

Alabama’s loss to Florida State continues to look worse, but the Crimson Tide on are on a hot stretch with four straight great wins: Georgia, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Tennessee.

This week: at South Carolina Gamecocks (3-4)

First Round Hosts

5. Georgia Bulldogs (5-1)

It was Georgia’s offense that fueled their win over Ole Miss for a quality win. Their only loss is to Alabama and with other teams losing, the Bulldogs move up the list.

This week: BYE

6. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-0)*

The Yellow Jackets went on the road and beat a solid Duke team to stay undefeated. They haven’t played the toughest schedule, but being undefeated at this point in the season is a feat in itself.

This week: vs. Syracuse Orange (3-4)

7. BYU Cougars (7-0)*

BYU got a ranked win in the Holy War to help legitimize their undefeated record a bit more this season. They have some tough games down the stretch, but are in a good spot in the Big 12.

This week: at Iowa State Cyclones (5-2)

8. Miami Hurricanes (5-1)

Miami lost on Friday night to Louisville in a game where the offense struggled with turnovers. Their wins over Notre Dame and USF are still impressive, but Miami won’t have many big games left this season.

This week: vs. Stanford Cardinal (3-4)

Last Four In

9. Ole Miss Rebels (6-1)

Ole Miss lost to Georgia in their first defeat of the season. The Rebels will fall down the rankings, but still likely have more room for another loss and have a tough game against Oklahoma this week.

This week: at Oklahoma Sooners (6-1)

10. Vanderbilt Commodores (6-1)

Vanderbilt defended their home turf against LSU to get a top 10 win. Their only loss is to Alabama. The Commodores have a tough schedule down the stretch, but have done a great job so far.

This week: vs. Missouri Tigers (6-1)

11. Oregon Ducks (6-1)

Oregon lost to Indiana, but rebounded well to route Rutgers 56-10. They don’t have a big win after Penn State faltered, but the Ducks have played well for most of the season.

This week: vs. Wisconsin Badgers (2-5)

12. USF Bulls (6-1)*

With Memphis losing, USF moves into the group of five spot for the CFP. They have wins over Boise State and Florida, really bolstering their case, but the American Conference has a few tough teams for them to get through.

This week: at Memphis Tigers (6-1)

First Four Out

Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-1)

Texas Tech lost to Arizona State on the road for its first loss of their season. The rest of the season looks manageable, with one tough game against BYU at home, but the Red Raiders have a slim margin for error.

This week: vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-6)

Oklahoma Sooners (6-1)

Oklahoma rebounded from their loss to Texas to defeat South Carolina on the road. Their win over Michigan looks a bit better after the Wolverines defeated Washington this week, but a brutal schedule down the stretch will make things tough.

This week: vs. Ole Miss Rebels (6-1)

Missouri Tigers (6-1)

Missouri got a tough win on the road at Auburn in week 8. Their only loss is a close one to Alabama, which leaves a lot of possibilities for the Tigers still on the table, even if the schedule is tough down the stretch.

This week: at Vanderbilt Commodores (6-1)

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-2)

Notre Dame lost their first two games of the season, but have rebounded well. They got a ranked win over USC this week and look like they have things on the right track for a run at the CFP.

This week: BYE

First Four Out- Group of Five Slot

Navy Midshipmen (AAC) (6-0)

Navy is still undefeated, even after getting some close wins. The winner of the American will likely get the CFP spot and they are currently in the driver’s seat.

This week: vs. Florida Atlantic Owls (3-4)

James Madison Dukes (Sun Belt (6-1)

JMU’s lone loss is to Louisville, which looks a lot better now after the Cardinals defeated Miami. The Dukes dominated Old Dominion, who looked like a solid group of five team earlier this season.

This week: BYE

Boise State Broncos (MWC) (5-2)

Boise State lost to USF and Notre Dame this season, but they are undefeated in the Mountain West. They are coming off a big win over undefeated UNLV to set up a possible run at the CFP if they get a lot of help elsewhere.

This week: at Nevada Wolf Pack (1-6)

Miami RedHawks (MAC) (4-3)

Miami lost to two power conference teams and UNLV in the nonconference schedule, but hasn’t lost in MAC play. The CFP isn’t happening, but they look like they could win the MAC.

This week: vs. Western Michigan Broncos (4-3)
