The University of Delaware Blue Hens are moving to Conference USA. This means that the Blue Hens football team will now be a part of Division-I FBS, the highest class of college football. They had previously been a part of the FCS, which is a rank below the FBS.
Action Network’s Brett McMurphy tweeted out the news on Monday morning.
The move from FCS to FBS will require the University of Delaware to become the first team to pay the $5 million application/transfer fee. The previous bill was just $5,000. As stated above, they will join Conference USA (or C-USA).
Delware has won FCS titles six times. Five were in Division-II and one was in Division-I. Their other college sports (that are applicable to the NCAA system) will join them in C-USA. The former home of Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is now in a conference with schools such as Jacksonville State and Liberty.
