University of Cincinnati to Part Ways With John Brannen

Publish Date: April 9, 2021

The University of Cincinnati is expected to part ways with men’s basketball coach John Brannen according to Jon Rothstein.

Brannen took over the job when Mick Cronin left for UCLA following the 2018-2019 season. He posted a 32-21 record with Cincinnati, but an investigation into the program was started after six players left the team. Four players were left heading into the offseason with no recruits signed when the investigation started.

Now, the question will become whether Cincinnati can fire Brannen for cause. Brannen’s lawyer, Tom Mars, has stated that he has never seen anything like what is going on in the Cincinnati Athletic Department.
