11. Myles Johnson UCLA
Johnson brings great efficiency around the basket and has a really good touch in scoring areas. Next, he does a very good job in ball screens with getting really good positioning on rolls. Furthermore, he has the ability to score with either hand and does a solid job of working the right and left sides in the post. Also, he is a factor on the offensive glass being in a good position for put-back opportunities. Additionally, he faces up well on both blocks and plays with good patience. As for defensively, he is one of the best interior defenders in the country. He is very active in the post with the ability to deny post entries and be a great shot blocker. Myles Johnson will be a strong contributor to UCLA with his leadership and interior presence.
12. Nate Watson Providence
Watson had a very productive season and will be one of the best bigs in college basketball with him returning to Providence. First off, he brings the ability to get great post positioning with having that physicality. Next, he took a major jump to be very efficient at 60.2% and improve his touch around the basket. Continued, he plays with a really good motor around the basket with contributing to 2nd chance opportunities. Also, he is an active cutter around the basket opening up for easy looks at the rim. The overall growth in his game with Watson has allowed him to be one of the better bigs in the country and is a huge threat offensively. As for defensively, he brings good physicality in the post and playing with consistent energy. Watson’s motor on the defensive end is key for Providence being able to control the paint. Nate Watson will be one of the best bigs in the country next season.
13. Nick Muszynski Belmont
Muszynski had a really good Junior season for Belmont being their go-to offensive threat with his inside scoring ability. Next, he establishes really good post positioning being able to attack with good footwork and balance. Also, he is really efficient around the basket at 58.6% from the field along his touch around the rim is good. Furthermore, he is capable of getting deep post positioning with the ability to finish on the opposite block he is posting upon. Continued, he is solid in ball screens being able to facilitate a potential switch and attack that matchup in the post. Additionally, his ability to go to either hand is really solid, and has good mobility to face up when need be. Muszynski becomes a matchup problem for teams needing to dictate whether they will guard him 1v1 or double the post. As for the defensive end, he does a solid job of defending the post with his size. Also, he could be more of a factor disrupting shots around the rim and improved mobility. Nick Muszynski will look to lead Belmont towards an NCAA tournament bid next season.
14. Mark Williams Duke
Williams had a tremendous close to his freshman season becoming a player who could be a breakout star next season. Furthermore, Williams has all of the traits to be great with his size, athleticism, and finishing ability around the basket. Additionally, his overall efficiency is impressive at 66.4% and his effort on the offensive glass is very good. Next, he runs the floor great in transition potential as a trailer to the rim or getting ahead of the defense with his ability to get post positioning. His length allows him to grab all of the second chance opportunities along with his effort. The skill Williams has to finish around the basket with soft-touch is impressive and should only expand his game. Continued, the next step would be his use in ball screens and the mobility he can showcase. Also, the strength of Williams could improve to be an even more dominant post player. Now defensively, the improvement of his strength and mobility on the perimeter will help his defensive ability. Also, he has the length to be disruptive around the basket for opposing drives and post-ups. Mark Williams has great potential to be one of the best bigs in the country.
15. Walker Kessler Auburn
Kessler a highly touted freshman will look to flourish at Auburn. Now, Kessler has very good size, mobility, and ability to play out on the perimeter. Furthermore, he has really good hands with the ability to finish around the basket with good touch consistently. His strength will be an area of improvement for him to be able to post stronger, rebound more effectively, and defend the post. Continued, his mobility will make him really good in transition opportunities as a rim runner and a trailer. Additionally, his use in ball screens will grow to be a hard big to contain in rolls and eventually pick and pops when his shot develops. Kessler has the ability and feels to take control in the paint as displayed against very good teams such as Florida State. Now defensively, his mobility and versatility will be valued massively. The ability to be effective in ball screen defense will be a major asset. Walker Kessler’s evolvement offensively will make him one of the best bigs in the country very soon at Auburn.
16. Fabian White Jr. Houston
White Jr. came off a Torn ACL and made it back in the middle of the season for Houston with a full offseason he should be the best big in the AAC next year. First off, he has really good mobility on the offensive end with being active in the dunker area and high post. As well as being an effective shooter from the high post and baseline areas with facing up against defense. Next, he contributes on the boards well on both ends and is key to the 2nd chance opportunity success of Houston. Continued, he has the ability to face up and attack defenders off the bounce with his improved skill with the basketball. His growth in his game will continue with White Jr. being able to make consistent jump shots and attacking defenders often. Now defensively, he has really good mobility for a big being able to defend out on the perimeter. As well as, being a factor in the lane with being able to contest drives and rebound effectively. Fabian White Jr. being fully healthy next season will be a major contributor for Houston.
17. Adam Sanogo UConn
Sanago has really good toughness and size-matched with pretty good athleticism to be productive in the interior. Furthermore, he could take the next step with efficiency around the basket with only shooting 55.4% from the field. Continued, his ability to score with more ease would go a long way and finish through contact more often. Additionally, the development of his skill set inside would benefit his scoring ability and be more calculated. Continued, he brings good effort on the boards and can help with 2nd chance opportunities. Also, he does a good job of diving and slipping to the basket finishing well in those scenarios. Sanogo can be really productive in high-low opportunities with getting good positioning. Now defensively, brings good mobility out on the perimeter being great in ball screen coverage. Also, he has the ability to disrupt drives and rebounds effectively. The productivity on the defensive end for Sanogo is very good. Adam Sanogo will look to be one of the best bigs in the Big East next season.
18. Kalib Boone Oklahoma State
Boone showed massive improvement growth over his sophomore season with the potential to develop into one of the best bigs in the Big 12. Furthermore, he gets very solid post positioning with great skill around the basket to finish. Also, he has the footwork and athleticism to finish very strong at the rim. Next, he does a really good job of getting to his left hand using drop steps effectively. Additionally, he needs to develop more a midrange game to be able to attack defenders more with his athleticism. Continued, his ability to play above the rim is really good with the ability to finish and have lob opportunities. Also, he is a factor on the offensive boards providing 2nd chance opportunities. The growth of Boone’s offensive skill set was impressive and shows his potential. As for defensively, he needs to improve his presence with his interior defense. As well as, improving his ball screen defense and mobility. Kalib Boone will be one of the best bigs in the Big 12 next season.
19. Malik Williams Louisville
Williams’s season did not live up to the expectations due to a broken foot to start the season and will look to show the growth in his game this season. First off, Williams brings good activity around the basket being effective on 2nd chance opportunities and being able to dive off of ball screens. Next, he is an active cutter around the basket in the dunker area being able to finish above the rim as well. The athleticism Williams has is really good allowing him to be a versatile forward on the offensive end. Continued, he has the ability to face up in the post with the quickness he can play with. The area he could improve is being more efficient around the basket and make more mid-range jumpers. As for defensively, he brings good activity and has the length matched with the athleticism to be effective. He could improve his consistency in the post with better strength and positioning. Malik Williams will be one of the best bigs in the ACC entering next season.
20. Race Thompson Indiana
Thompson is a great glue guy for Indiana and is going to a major part of their success this season. First off, the effort on the boards on both ends is tremendous being a major contributor towards extra possessions. Next, Thompson runs the floor hard in transition being capable of making plays at the rim. Continued, he could continue to improve his skill around the basket working drop steps and jump hooks to be more effective. Additionally, he is really good off the ball to open up on cuts around the basket operating in the dunker position. Furthermore, he could improve his post positioning to get cleaner post entires allowing him to operate easily. As for defensively, he brings good interior toughness and activity on the glass. Also, he brings good mobility being able to contain the basketball well get out on the perimeter. Race Thompson will be a major part of Indiana’s success next year with his consistent effort and toughness.
