North Carolina will hire another person with ties to the program to be their next head coach. The University will promote assistant Hubert Davis according to Jon Rothstein.
Davis has not prior head coaching experience, but has been an assistant at North Carolina since 2012. He played for the Tar Heels from 1988-1992.
Before making his way to coaching Davis had an NBA career that lasted over a decade, which saw him become the third-most accurate 3-point shooter in NBA history (behind Steve Kerr and Steph Curry). After finishing his playing career, he was a college basketball analyst who was featured on ESPN’s College Game Day.
Davis will take over for longtime head coach Roy Williams, who won two National Championships with the school.
