
The AP College Basketball Poll released its last rankings on Monday afternoon, a day after Selection Sunday. With an undefeated Gonzaga, the No. 1 spot remains intact after an entire season of college basketball. The Zags finished the season taking the WCC trophy home in a 10-point victory over BYU. The Bulldogs earned the No. 1 seed in the West and will take on the winner of Norfolk State and Appalachian State.
Rounding out the top five this week is Illinois, Baylor, Michigan and Alabama. Baylor and Illinois traded at No. 2 and 3 spots, while Michigan and Alabama held steady at No. 4 and 5 respectively. It’s the highest ranking for the Illini all season, and the highest since they finished No. 1 in the AP poll in the 2004-05 season. Houston, Ohio State, Iowa, Texas and Arkansas comprise the 6-10 spots.
