Welcome to another edition of college basketball’s week in review. The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge provided us with great, non-conference matchups all week, as the challenge ended in a 7-7 draw. Let’s take a look at what else took place around the country this week:

Week In Review – November 26 – December 2

Louisville, Michigan Have Big Week

Chris Mack got his first signature win as the Cards head coach as Louisville upset #9 Michigan State in OT. They followed up that resume win with another tough win on the road at Seton Hall on Saturday. The Pirates had just beat Miami to claim the Wooden Legacy Invitational, too, making the win even more impressive for the Cards. Mack certainly looks to be ahead of schedule in his new coaching gig.

The Wolverines dominated the Tar Heels from start to finish, beating North Carolina by 17 on Wednesday. Three days later, Purdue fell victim to Michigan’s hot start as they were also beaten down by Beilein’s Wolverines 76-57. Michigan already has three wins versus top 25 teams and are the clear favorite in the Big Ten.

Louisville hosts Central Arkansas before traveling to Bloomington for a rivalry game at Indiana.  Michigan travels to Northwestern for their second conference game before hosting South Carolina on Saturday.

Upsets Galore

This week saw several Power Five programs fall to mid-major opponents. Losing these kinds of games hurt not only in terms of your resume, but it also hurts that a team you paid to play just beat you on your home court. Oregon falls under this category as they fell to Texas Southern after being 24 point favorites. Speaking of Texas, the 17th-ranked Longhorns fell at home to Radford after an impressive showing in Las Vegas. The Highlanders now own road wins at Notre Dame and Texas. Also, the 15th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies suffered its first loss at the hands to Penn State by one.

Furman Ranked For The First Time

After an 8-0 start, including a road win at Villanova, Furman is ranked #25 in this week’s edition of the AP Poll. The Furman Paladins made history as they were featured in the AP Poll for the first time in school history. They will also look to make even more history, as their last tournament appearance came in 1980. The Paladins still travel to LSU before beginning Southern Conference play.
